Anatomical Pathology

The Department of Anatomical Pathology (formerly named Anatomical Pathology Section) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University was established in August 1963 and led by Prof. dr. I Gusti Ngurah Putu Adnyana as the first Head of Section. From 1963 to 1971, the Anatomical Pathology Section occupied the X-ray room of Sanglah General Hospital and from 1972 to 1976 occupied a room at the Denpasar Health Laboratory. Then in 1977, the PA Department had its own room on Jalan Nusa Tenggara No. 1 and now occupies the 2nd Floor of the Central Surgical Installation Building of Prof. Dr. IGNG Ngoerah Hospital. The current Head of the Department is Dr. dr. I Wayan Juli Sumadi, Sp.P.A., Subsp. M.S. (K). The Department of Anatomical Pathology has 11 lecturers who are qualified specialists in anatomical pathology, of which 4 people also have a doctoral qualification and 8 people have a consultant specialist degree. The Department of PA FK Unud has the following divisions (specialization fields): Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Breast Pathology, Skin and Adnexa Pathology, Urology and Male Genitalia Pathology, Nerve and Eye Pathology, Digestive and Hepatobiliary Pathology, Musculoskeletal Pathology, Cardiovascular and Mediastinal Pathology, Hematolymphoid and Endocrine Pathology, Head and Neck Pathology, and Cytopathology. The activities of the Department of PA FK Unud consist of educational activities, research and community service. The Department of Anatomical Pathology FK Udayana University actively conducts educational activities for the Bachelor of Medicine Study Program, Professional Doctors, Anatomical Pathology Specialist Study Program, as well as Biomedical Masters and Doctoral Medicine Study Programs, as well as in several health universities in Bali. Lecturer staff at the Department of PA FK Unud are also active in conducting research in the field of anatomical pathology in accordance with the field of specialization and research roadmap. The results of the research have been published in various reputable national and international scientific journals. Research activities also involve residents of the FK Unud Anatomical Pathology Specialist Program. Community service activities are carried out regularly every year and involve all staff and residents.
