Parasitology

The Department of Parasitology is one of the departments within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. The department is supported by qualified lecturers in the field of Parasitology and Tropical Basic Medical Sciences and assisted by competent education personnel. The department is responsible for implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Education, Research and Service according to the scope of its knowledge both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. The scope of Parasitology includes Helminthology, Protozoology, Entomology, and Mycology by focusing on taxonomy, epidemiology, morphology, life cycle, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Educational activities with various learning methods in the form of face-to-face lectures, group discussions with tutorials, and practicum (basic clinical skills). Excellent research and service activities carried out by lecturers and students in each discipline are carried out regularly and scheduled. The department also conducts diagnostic service activities with conventional microscopic techniques for the general public and molecular biology for the benefit of scientific activities and cooperation. The Department of Parasitology with the support of reliable staff and laboratory facilities always strives to participate in efforts to reduce cases of parasitic diseases that threaten global health.
