From Strengthening Travel Medicine Branding to Accelerating Academics and Research: FK Unud Holds Leadership Meeting for August 2026
The Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University (FK Unud) held its Leadership Meeting for the August 2026 period. This strategic meeting took place at the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The meeting began with directives from the Dean of FK Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT(K). In his remarks, Prof. Eka emphasized concrete steps to strengthen the faculty's branding in travel medicine as a key area of excellence. This strategy begins with the production of a promotional video showcasing the travel medicine curriculum for the Undergraduate Medical Program—aimed at attracting medical students from across Indonesia to study the subject at FK Unud—as well as plans to open a Travel Medicine Clinic in 2027 to serve as a clinical rotation site for medical students.
Additionally, the Dean outlined plans for budget allocation regarding the integration of "fostered villages" (*desa binaan*)—a form of downstreaming the Three Pillars of Higher Education (*Tri Dharma*) designed to deliver direct community impact. He also addressed the monitoring of academic facilities, the drafting of academic and non-academic guidelines concerning mental health, the formation of a dedicated team for Key Performance Indicators (IKU) linked to remuneration schemes, and the promotion of student programs that generate real-world impact across all study programs.
The second session featured a presentation by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning—who is also the Acting Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information—Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, S.Ked., M.P.H., Ph.D. He presented information regarding the extended payment deadline for special-category tuition fees for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, the 2026 new student intake figures, and achievements against Second Quarter Performance Indicators. He also covered study program accreditation schedules, the development of new study programs, and the Faculty of Medicine Udayana University's (FK Unud) role in mentoring new programs for collaboration partners and Primary Teaching Hospitals (RSPPU). Additionally, he addressed the management of research progress reports, research data validation policies, and a report on the deployment of the FK Unud Disaster Response Team following the earthquake on Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara.
Subsequently, the Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes., presented details regarding the opening of the Lecturer Workload (BKD) reporting period for the Even Semester of 2025/2026 and proposals for academic rank promotions for lecturers. Prof. Muliarta highlighted the target to accelerate the realization of the faculty budget, noting that the absorption rate as of August 2026 stood at only 35.61% due to centralized capital expenditure procurement processes. He urged Study Program Coordinators to proactively remind administrative staff to execute the budget fully and promptly. Coordinators were also expected to practice efficiency by prioritizing infrastructure spending and upgrades to clinical clerkship facilities at affiliated hospitals, as well as to disseminate information regarding remuneration payment schedules for academic and technical staff.
The leadership meeting concluded with a discussion session involving all participants. Through these periodic meetings, it is hoped that all leadership elements within FK Unud can align their perspectives, strengthen coordination, and drive the optimal and sustainable implementation of work programs.
