10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding (LMKM) in Bondowoso

Bondowoso Regency is Committed to Include 10 LMKM Achievements as Stunting Indicators.

Regarding the commitment to reduce stunting in Bondowoso Regency, GAIN Indonesia together with the Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University facilitated the Development of an Evidence-Based Program (PBB) based on the results of the 10-Step Assessment to Successful Breastfeeding (LMKM).

Bondowoso 23-24 May 2019- Malnutrition rates have increased from year to year in Bondowoso Regency, this is allegedly due to the high poverty rate. These factors are one of the causes of the high stunting rate in Bondowoso Regency. Bappeda Bondowoso explained that Bappeda is currently developing the Tape Manis program; Responsive Care for the Poor to contribute to the prevention of stunting in Bondowoso Regency.

The Evidence-Based Program (PBB) in Bondowoso Regency was carried out on 22-23 May 2019 at the Ijen View Hotel, Bondowoso.

The PBB was attended by Bappeda, Bondowoso District Health Office, district coordinator of GAIN Indonesia, representatives of Independent Practice Midwives, Social Service, Public Health Centers and Hospitals in Bondowoso District.

The Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI) Team of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University also facilitated the preparation of the Evidence-Based Program (PBB) using the Bottle Neck Analysis method which analyzed the obstacles to the implementation of 10 LMKMs in Bondowoso Regency.

From the results of the stunting meeting & workshop, it resulted in a meeting on the work plan to be carried out by the related OPDs and health facilities that were present for a better Bondowoso Regency.

The Head of the Socio-Cultural Division, Bappeda of Bondowoso Regency stated that the problems that Bondowoso is currently facing are a motivation so that all ranks of OPD and Health Facilities can be more optimal in solving them with better cross-sectoral collaboration.

The strategy for integrating the activity plans produced based on discussions is program integration, making socialization plans , coordination meetings, program preparation so that 10 LMKMs are included as stunting indicators, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to include training and discussing meetings to discuss cadre and non-medical training plans.

This was also coupled with the presence of the Head of the Bondowoso District Health Office in giving a speech and explaining the coverage of breastfeeding in Bondowoso Regency. He emphasized that the agency is committed in the future to more aggressively develop health programs that support breastfeeding and more intensive socialization of 10 LMKMs to health workers and the community. .

The hospital representative added that from the results of the assessment of 10 LMKM which showed the percentage of IMD was still low in this health facility, efforts would be made in the future to make it even better by socializing regulations regarding the rights/obligations of health workers and mothers, as well as supervising the use of formula milk in health care facilities. so that circulation can be controlled.

This is also the support of the related OPDs who propose to improve the monitoring and evaluation system as well as conduct training for non-medical personnel to support access to public health at the posyandu and also support classes to increase the achievement target of 10 LMKM. So that with the various strategies that have been produced from the discussion of this workshop, we can achieve the goals of Bondowo Regency which is getting faster which is the flagship tagline of Bondowoso Regency.

From the results of the preparation of this evidence-based program, there is also an agreement to develop a plan so that in the future the coverage of 10 LMKMs will be reported to the health office and make 10 LMKMs an indicator of stunting.
