Pemangku in Ketewel Village Are Educated on Hyperglycemia Complication Prevention
The Clinical Pathology Study Program of the Medical Faculty of Udayana University in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Pathology of the Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University and officials from the village of Ketewel, Sukawati, Gianyar, held an action "Free Blood Glucose Examination and Complete Blood Count as a Step to Prevent Complications of Hyperglycemia" for the Pemangku which was carried out at the Wantilan Jaba Pura Payogan Agung Ketewel Traditional Village (17/7/2022).
This activity is carried out by checking blood sugar and checking complete blood count as the first step in detecting complications of diabetes mellitus (hyperglycemia). Besides that, liquid milk was also given in an effort to socialize the importance of milk as additional nutrition in old age.
Ketewel Traditional Village is a traditional village with a number of Pemangku as many as 124 people, and the dominant age is over 50 years. It is important for village officials as well as the Clinical Pathology Study Program and the Department of Clinical Pathology, FK Unud to pay attention to the health status of the temple officials. They are holy people who are assigned to carry out the ceremony / yad without being rewarded.
The Clinical Pathology Study Program in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University on this occasion sent teaching staff and students of PPDS Clinical Pathology from each generation. As for Dr. dr. I Nyoman Wande, S.Ked., SpPK(K) as field coordinator accompanied by student coordinator dr. Dewa Agung Cahyadi, S.Ked who is also the Head of PPDS Clinical Pathology, FK Unud conducted a physical examination, anthropometry and laboratory tests assisted by other participants of the PPDS Clinical Pathology. Dr. dr. Siany Herawati, S.Ked., SpPK(K) as the Coordinator of the Clinical Pathology Study Program participated in accompanying the health service activities with great enthusiasm and supported this event. Besides that, there are also several teaching staff who are involved in this health service activity, namely: Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Putu Sutirta Yasa, MSi and Dr. dr. AAN Subawa MSi.
In the end, this collaborative activity, of course, is not only interesting to do today, but the plan will continue to roll regularly. Dr. dr. Siany Herawati, S.Ked., SpPK(K) as the Coordinator of the Medical Clinical Pathology Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University stated that she would continue this collaboration to be able to contribute to community service and it was hoped that Ketewel Village would be realized as a partner or fostered village of the Faculty of Clinical Pathology Study Program. Medicine at Udayana University, considering the strong commitment of the community, especially the Pemangku and officials of the Ketewel Traditional Village in paying attention to public health.
