Furthermore, the core material was delivered directly by the Indonesian Nutrition Institute (IGI) Prof. Soekirman PhD on Common Perceptions of Stunting; includes the definition/definition, the extent of the problem, direct and indirect causal factors, negative impacts on individuals, families and nations, as well as prevention efforts.
Then it was continued with a representative from the Directorate of Public Health Nutrition, Mr. Dakhlan Choeron regarding the Prevention of Stunting at the District Level and Potential Factors to Overcome the Problem
And from the Center for Public Health Innovation, FK Udayana University, who conveyed the role of mentoring universities in Gianyar Regency in preventing and tackling stunting.
Responding to President Joko Widodo's vision of Indonesia, which is committed to improving community nutrition, in particular addressing the problem of stunting in national development as well as development at the global level. Stunting is a complex development problem, and is linked to poverty, hunger and malnutrition, maternal and child health, disease, education, environmental conditions and sanitation, and food security and nutrition. Tackling stunting requires cross-sectoral, cross-disciplinary and cross-actor collaboration
The government, both central, provincial and district/city, is responsible for the prevention and control of stunting. For this reason, the government needs to ensure that cross-sectoral programs are implemented in a convergent and effective manner. However, this effort still faces various challenges, including differences in perceptions between related parties regarding the problem of stunting and nutritional problems in general, coordination problems, and the quality of human resources. In this regard, Udayana University in collaboration with the Directorate of Community Nutrition can help overcome the problem of understanding and support the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of stunting prevention programs by the government, especially in Gianyar Regency.
Based on these considerations, the Directorate of Nutrition at the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Ditzi) collaborated with 17 Universities (PT), based on the 2019 Operational Cooperation Agreement (SPKO), to provide assistance to district governments in managing stunting prevention programs. Udayana University itself, was trusted by the Directorate of Nutrition of the Indonesian Ministry of Health to provide assistance in Gianyar Regency in managing the stunting program. So that through the workshop which will last for two days, it is hoped that the common goals can be achieved, namely: 1) Equalizing the perception of each university (PT) on stunting; includes the definition/definition, the extent of the problem, direct and indirect causal factors, negative impacts on individuals, families and nations, as well as prevention efforts. 2) Explain to PT the Government's strategy to reduce the percentage of stunting under five nationally from 30.8% in 2018 to 23.8% (low target) or 19% (high target) in 2024 as stipulated in the National Strategy for Accelerating Stunting Reduction (Stranas Stunting) 2018-2024. Stranas, among others, set 100 priority districts in 2018, to 160 in 2019 and to 260 districts in 2020. 3) Explaining the role of mentoring by PT to empower (capacity building) local government officials, not only health workers, but also other related sectors . This is done by PT for local governments by providing knowledge and skills to implement stunting prevention interventions, especially in the 1000 HPK period. It should be understood that PT personnel do not carry out direct service activities to the community and do not take over the duties of regional officials in tackling the stunting problem in their area.
With this workshop activity, Udayana University through the Tri Dharma College activities will synergize significantly by creating a Stunting Development Center at Udayana University. Not only plays a role in mentoring but also a lot of research that can be done related to the problem of stunting. So that it can be an active university effort to support efforts to reduce stunting rates in Gianyar Regency, where it is hoped that in 2045 the stunting rate can decrease significantly. Hopefully this program can provide constructive input for policy makers in Gianyar Regency. Towards the end of the first day of the workshop, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University said that in the future, FK Udayana University can become a leading sector that can participate & contribute actively in overcoming health problems in the community, especially the problem of stunting in Gianyar Regency, for better public health in the future. .
