Increasing the Capacity of Health Workers in Schizophrenia Management in Primary Facilities through CPD 2025
The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, once again organized Continuing Professional Development (CPD) on May 9, 2025 online. With the theme "Management, Relapse Prevention, and Accelerating Schizophrenia Recovery in Primary Health Facilities", this activity was held in commemoration of National Education Day and was attended by various participants from all over Indonesia.
CPD 2025 presents a variety of strategic materials ranging from early detection, emergency management of schizophrenia, to the utilization of long acting injection (LAI) antipsychotics to accelerate patient recovery. All materials were delivered by experts from the Department of Psychiatry FK Unud / RSUP Prof. Ngoerah, and opened with a presentation on medical ethics by a representative of the IDI Denpasar Region, dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit, Sp.FM (K), DFM.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT (K) expressed his high appreciation to the Department of Psychiatry for the implementation of activities. "We really appreciate the hard work of the Department which is still able to organize meaningful CPD. The most important thing is not the online or offline format, but the impact on participants in improving mental health services," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the urgency of this CPD theme. "Mental disorders, especially schizophrenia, are becoming an increasingly important national issue. This activity is very useful, especially for doctors who work in remote areas that may not be reached by optimal psychiatric science updates," he added.
The event began with the official opening accompanied by the national anthem, the report of the committee chairman Dr. Anak Agung Ngurah Andika Damar Negara, Sp.K.J. and remarks. After the opening session, the event continued with three main material sessions presented by Dr. Ni Made Leni, Sp.K.J, Dr. I Putu Dharma Krisna Aji, Sp.K.J., and Dr. I Gusti Agung Ayu Widyarini, Sp.K.J. The event was closed with a discussion session, symposium, and door prize distribution for lucky participants.
CPD 2025 is not only a space for scientific education, but also a momentum to strengthen synergy between health professionals in reducing relapse rates and stigma towards schizophrenia patients. We hope that this kind of education will continue consistently so that mental health services in Indonesia will be more responsive and effective.
