Indonesian Conference on Tobacco Control (ICTOH) 2025, "Revealing the Tactics of the Tobacco and Nicotine Product Industry"
In an effort to control tobacco abuse and overcome the problem of smoking habits in Indonesian society, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University together with the Indonesian Public Health Experts Association (IAKMI), Youth Forum, and the Association of Indonesian Public Health College Institutions (AIPTKMI) held the Indonesian Conference on Tobacco Control (ICTOH) 2025 which took place at the Sudirman Campus, Udayana University, Bali. (26-28 May 2025)
Held for 3 days, the main agenda of ICTOH 2025 this time included a presentation from Dr. Tara Singh Bam as Director - Asia Pacific Tobacco Control, a Plenary inviting speakers and regional and central policy makers, and a Symposium.
Officially opened in the Dr. A.A. Meeting Room. Made Djelantik, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, on this occasion also attended online and offline including Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin as Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia; Dr. Evelyn Murphy as Technical Officer of Healthy Population, WHO Indonesia; Ms. Maniza Zaman as UNICEF Representative in Indonesia; Dedi Supratman, SKM., MKM. as General Chairperson of PP IAKMI; Governor of Bali represented by Prof. Dr. drh. I Made Damriyasa, M.S. as Expert Staff to the Governor; and Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes as Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation & Information, Udayana University.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation & Information of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes., expressed his support and hope that the implementation of ICTOH would be able to provide a positive impact in efforts to deal with tobacco and all products related to tobacco.
"The cigarette problem is a problem that has great challenges to overcome, coupled with the emergence of electronic cigarettes making the challenge even more complex. Hopefully, with Udayana's participation in this year's event, it can provide a positive contribution in efforts to deal with tobacco and all other tobacco products. We hope that by holding ICTOH 10, it can provide innovation and new efforts in the field of tobacco control, Udayana will certainly always support all efforts needed to collaborate to overcome this tobacco problem," he said.
The event was officially opened by the Governor of Bali represented by Prof. Dr. drh. I Made Damriyasa, M.S. as the Governor's Expert Staff. After the opening session, the event continued with a Plenary on Policy Steps to Reveal Tobacco and Nicotine Product Tactics which invited speakers and policy makers including:
1. Meutya Viada Hafid, B.Eng., M.IP (Minister of Communication and Digital)
2. Prof. Asnawi Abdullah, SKM, MHSM, MScHPPF, DLSHTM, Ph.D (Head of Health Development Policy Agency, Ministry of Health)
3. dr Benget Saragih, M.Epid (Director of Non-Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Education and Culture)
4. I Nyoman Suwirta (Member of the Bali Provincial DPR)
After the Plenary session, the second day of ICTOH 2025 continued with 3 symposium sessions and closed with a gala dinner session.
UDAYANA UNIVERSITY
