Capacity Building for the Maternal and Child Health Student Community, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University
The Special Division of the Maternal and Child Health Student Community (DK KMPKIA) of the Public Health Student Association (HMKM), Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held an annual capacity building activity with the theme "Adolescent Mental Health: From Healthy Minds to Building Positive Parenting for the Future." The event took place in the lecture hall of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program (PSKM) Building, Denpasar Campus, on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
This capacity building activity was attended by active students of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. The purpose of this capacity building was to provide new insights and learning through the presentation of material on maternal and child health issues in the community and to provide a deeper introduction to the Special Division of the Maternal and Child Health Student Community.
The event began with remarks from the Advisor of the DK KMPT HMKM, Dr. I Made Kerta Duana, S.KM., MPH, and accompanied by the HMKM Advisor, Ngakan Putu Anom Harjana, S.KM., MA.
Following the opening ceremony, two speakers presented:
1. Desak Nyoman Widyanthini, S.ST., M.Kes, with a presentation on mental health and its relationship to parenting styles.
2. Ni Komang Dea Ananda, with a presentation on a deeper introduction to the KMP KIA DK.
Before the presentation session began, participants took a pre-test to determine their initial knowledge. After completing the entire presentation, a post-test was administered to evaluate their understanding of the material. After the pre-test and post-test were completed, participants were directed by the committee to join their pre-formed groups for a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). During the FGD, each group was given a case study related to the material presented by the speakers. Participants were expected to complete the case study in the form of a roleplay, developing it according to their own creativity. A presentation will then be given to assess participants' understanding of the material and to provide a platform for participants to reiterate and expand on the material presented by the speakers.
At the end of the series of activities, an icebreaking session will be held for all participants to create a more conducive atmosphere and strengthen camaraderie. The event will then continue with the presentation of prizes as a token of appreciation.
Participants who participate in the Capacity Building activity for the Special Division of the Maternal and Child Health Student Community will officially become members of the Special Division of the Maternal and Child Health Student Community for one year and will actively participate in supporting and ensuring the success of all work programs and functions of the DK KMP KIA.
This Capacity Building activity for the Special Division of the Maternal and Child Health Student Community is expected to increase students' awareness and concern as agents of change and drivers of maternal and child health issues, enhance their knowledge and insight regarding maternal and child health issues, and encourage them to apply and disseminate the information they have acquired.
