Caring for Elderly Health, FK Unud Organizes Health Social Service in Bongkasa Pertiwi Village, Badung, Bali
As a form of concern and support for the elderly and the community, the Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University (FK Unud) collaborated with Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital, UPTD Puskesmas Abiansemal IV and Prodia Laboratory to organize community service in Bongkasa Pertiwi Village, Badung Regency, Bali. Attended by 210 elderly people from the local village, on this occasion FK Unud coordinated by the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program by involving the ENT-KL Specialist Study Program, Neurology Specialist, Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Specialist, and Radiology Specialist provided education about healthy lifestyles and prevention of diseases prone to suffer from the elderly as well as free health services for the elderly.
The event began with an opening held at the Village Multipurpose Hall by the Chairman of the Social Service Committee Dr. dr. I Made Pande Dwipayana, Sp.PD-KEMD, FINASIM, Head of Bongkasa Pertiwi Village I Nyoman Buda, SE., NL.P., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information FK Unud, Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D. and remarks from the Head of the Badung Regency Health Office, Dr. Made Padma Puspita, Sp.PD who also officially opened the event.
On this occasion, Nyoman Buda as the Head of Bongkasa Pertiwi Village expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the activities organized by FK Unud and hoped that this activity could continue in the future but not only for the elderly, but also targeting children for stunting prevention programs so that it would benefit the community around Bongkasa Pertiwi Village, especially the elderly and children.
Prof. Ady in his speech also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of Bongkasa Pertiwi Village and hoped that the education and health services provided later could increase the knowledge and awareness of the elderly about the importance of a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases that are prone to be suffered by the elderly.
Dr. Padma as Head of the Badung Regency Health Office expressed his appreciation for the program organized by FK Unud and stated that the Badung Regency Health Office was ready to work together not only in the field of service, but also in the field of research for students at FK Unud.
After the opening, the event continued with health services provided by students (residents) of specialist study programs as well as health education on blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and healthy living behavior for the elderly presented by Dr. Ida Bagus Aditya Nugraha, Sp.PD.
This community service was also attended by Abiansemal Sub-District Head Ida Bagus Putu Mas Arimbawa, S.Sos, Head of Abiansemal IV Health Center dr. Ni Putu Purlimaningsih, S.Ked., M.Kes, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Coordinators of Specialist Study Programs, Coordinators of Internal Medicine Sub-Specialist Study Programs, Coordinators of Undergraduate Medical Study Programs, Coordinators of Doctor Professional Study Programs, UPIKS Coordinators, Lecturers, students (residents) from several Specialist Study Programs, and FK Unud education staff who participated in providing counseling and health services for the elderly.
