Field Assessment of LAM-PTKes Accreditation for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University
The Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) conducted a field assessment for the accreditation of the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud). This process aims to ensure the quality of the higher education program in health meets global standards, fosters a culture of continuous quality improvement, and produces competent graduates who are relevant to the needs of the community and the national health system.
Officially opened in the Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik meeting room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, the field assessment by LAM-PTKes was held over three days, from April 9 to 11, 2026, and was assessed by two assessors:
1. Prof. Dr. Mariatul Fadilah, MARS., Ph.D., Sp.KKLP., Subsp.COPC
2. Dr. dr. Maria Selvester Thadeus, M.Biomed, Sp.KKLP., Subsp. FOMC
The opening ceremony began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT (K)., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R., and the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., who also officially opened the event.
On this occasion, Prof. Eka stated that the accreditation process is a mandate that must be carried out and is a crucial momentum for the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, particularly for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, in its efforts to strengthen quality assurance through the accreditation process. He expressed his deep appreciation to the assessor team from LAM-PTKes for their guidance and motivation, which have contributed to the development of the institution, particularly the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences. Currently, the Faculty of Medicine manages a total of 38 study programs, of which 27 have achieved superior accreditation.
"We remain committed to maintaining these quality standards through a rigorous, risk-based internal quality assurance system at every level. In addition to focusing on the curriculum, developing facilities such as the Anatomy Laboratory is also a priority. This facility has been transformed into a center of excellence in education and a revenue generator through various international workshops. Through the collaboration of the entire academic community and the full support of the university, we are optimistic that this accreditation process will yield excellent results for the advancement of medical education in Indonesia," added Prof. Eka.
Meanwhile, Prof. Sudarsana, in his remarks, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Assessor Team from LAM-PTKes for their willingness and dedication in conducting field assessments for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
"We hope the presence of the assessors will help us gain a deeper understanding of the state of the study programs, as we strive to enhance and improve the quality of education at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, particularly the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, so that it can achieve optimal results. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, his staff, the study program coordinators, and all parties who supported this initiative. Hopefully, our shared hope of providing quality education to create a superior, independent, and cultured generation can be achieved," said Prof. Sudarsana.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Representative of the President Director of Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, Denpasar, the Director of Udayana University Hospital, the Head of the Research Institute for Health (LPPM), the Head of the Research Institute for Health (LP3M), the Head of the Student Affairs and Informatics Institute (USDI), the Head of the Library Unit, the Head of the Faculty of Medicine Senate, the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, the Study Program Coordinators, the Heads of Departments and Units within the Faculty, and the Accreditation Task Force for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Udayana University Faculty of Medicine.
During the three-day field assessment, the assessor team carried out various activities, including:
1. Interviews with faculty leaders, study program managers, and the task force team.
2. Evaluation of lecturers teaching in the study program.
3. Interviews with educational staff regarding academic and non-academic services.
4. Discussions with graduate users, alumni, and students.
Through these activities, it is hoped that the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, can continue to strengthen its academic quality and institutional governance to achieve superior accreditation and make a real contribution to society.
