Field Assessment of LAM-PTKes Accreditation for the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University
The Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) conducted a field assessment for the accreditation of the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud). Specifically for new study programs, accreditation aims to guarantee eligibility, determine accreditation status, and ensure that health study programs meet established quality standards. This process is crucial for building a sustainable culture of quality, protecting the public, and providing official recognition of the quality of educational provision.
The field assessment was officially opened in the Dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, and was held over three days, April 13–15, 2026. The assessment was conducted by three assessors:
1. Dr. dr. Sony Wibisono Mudjanarko, Sp.PD, K-EMD, FINASIM
2. Dr. dr. Nina Kemala Sari, Sp.PD-KGer, MPH, FINASIM
3. Dr. dr. H. Zulkhair Ali, Sp.PD-KGH, FINASIM
The opening ceremony began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT(K), Subsp.Onk.Ort.(R), and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who also officially opened the event.
In his remarks, Prof. Eka stated that the Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Udayana University, managing 38 study programs, covering undergraduate, professional, master's, doctoral, and specialist levels. In terms of governance, the Faculty of Medicine is fully committed to achieving superior accreditation by strengthening its quality assurance system. The mechanisms implemented include an Internal Quality Audit (AMI) conducted annually by UP3M and LP3M, followed up through Management Review Meetings from the study program level up through the university. The faculty emphasized that this external assessment is crucial for providing an objective and honest portrait of the institution's quality, something that cannot be achieved through internal assessment alone.
"We express our full readiness to support the assessors by providing the necessary data and documents to ensure a smooth accreditation field assessment process," added Prof. Eka.
Meanwhile, Prof. Sujaya, in his remarks, stated that the Faculty of Medicine is the heart of Udayana University's academic dynamics, contributing approximately 27 percent of the total study programs. Currently, the Faculty of Medicine manages 38 study programs, 21 of which are specialist medical education programs and three subspecialty study programs. He noted that the Faculty of Medicine is also very progressive in opening new study programs. Of the 38 study programs, approximately 70 percent have achieved the Excellence award. This demonstrates that the internal quality assurance system at the Faculty of Medicine is working well.
He also hopes the assessors can provide comprehensive input from various perspectives to improve the quality of graduates. This is considered crucial given the highly dynamic healthcare challenges in Bali, a global tourism destination. Udayana University itself is targeting an increase in the percentage of study programs with "Unggul" status within the university to 63 percent this year. To date, 83 study programs at Udayana University have achieved "Unggul" accreditation.
"We are very optimistic that the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Study Program will achieve "Unggul" accreditation on its first visit. This will be a historic milestone for Udayana University. Through this accreditation process, Udayana University hopes to continue ensuring the competency of graduates in line with its vision of "Unggul," "Independent," and "Cultivated," while also being able to provide the best healthcare services to the Indonesian people and support the healthcare tourism sector in Bali," added Prof. Sujaya.

Ngoerah Denpasar, Deputy Director of Academic and Human Resources Affairs, Udayana University Hospital, Head of the Institute for Health Research and Development (LPPM), Head of the Institute for Health Research and Development (LP3M), Head of the USDI (University Student Association), Head of the Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University Senate, Vice Deans of the Faculty, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Departments and Units within the Faculty, and the Task Force for the Accreditation of the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
