The Udayana University International Senior Fellowship (UNISERF) 2024 Grant Dissemination Activity: Gamelan and Dance Neuroscience Performance was proudly organized by the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University in collaboration with Rice University, University of Houston and Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar. This activity was held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Meeting Room of Dr. A.A.Made Djelantik, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. (6/7/2024)
This activity is part of research on neuroscience on dancers and gamelan players who are assessed through brain waves. It is hoped that this activity can add to the knowledge of neuroscience through art.

This activity was also attended by Prof. Anthony K. Brandt, Ph.D, from Rice University and Prof. Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal, Ph.D, from the University of Houston and I Gde Made Indra Sadguna, S.Sn, M.Sn, Ph.D from Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar as speakers.
In her speech, Ni Ketut Putri Ariani, dr., Sp.K.J., Subsp.K.L. (K) explained that this activity is unique and very interesting by combining neuroscience and art and is expected to be a new beginning for the development of science, especially in the field of neuropsychiatry.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes explained that Indonesia, especially Bali, has many cultures that can be explored in more depth, one of which is gamelan and dance, to be used not only as performing arts but can be used to improve public health.
Dr. Cokorda Bagus Jaya Lesmana, dr., Sp.K.J., Subsp.K. (K), MARS as Chairman of the Udayana Neuroscience-Artificial Intelligence Research Group in his speech explained that every human being has 86 billion neurons in the brain and 1 spirit/atma/soul so there is a lot of room for exploration. Udayana University can be proud because it has a forum to be able to establish cooperation from different disciplines. This activity is the first research in the world that conducts cross-cultural and cross-field collaboration between medicine, electro, and art.
