HTTS 2026 Social Campaign: Healthy Meeting (Reduce Tobacco Consumption and Start a Healthy Life)

The Special Division of the Tobacco Dangers Student Community (DK KMPT) of the Public Health Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a Social Campaign at the Bajra Sandhi Renon Field Car Free Day area in Denpasar on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

The theme of this event was "Health Meeting (Reduce Tobacco Consumption and Start a Healthy Life)" with the topic "Uncovering the Attraction: Overcoming Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction." This event was held in celebration of World No Tobacco Day (HTTS), which is celebrated every May 31st. It aims to educate the public about the dangers of tobacco consumption and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. It also aims to raise public awareness of the negative impacts of cigarettes and nicotine on health, provide understanding of the dangers of tobacco addiction, and encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle without smoking. Furthermore, this activity also served as a platform for the KMPT Council to provide direct health education to the general public.

The 2026 HTTS Social Campaign was implemented by the KMPT Council of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, targeting the general public participating in the Car Free Day event at Bajra Sandhi Field in Renon. The activity involved two methods: education at the educational booth and a direct social campaign.

At the educational booth, the committee presented material using posters about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine. This was followed by a simulation of the dangers of smoking using cotton balls in a bottle to illustrate the lungs exposed to cigarette smoke. This simulation allowed the public to directly observe the impact of smoking on the lungs, making the education easier to understand and engaging. Following the education and simulation, the public was given the opportunity to participate in a discussion and a spin wheel game, which provided questions about the educational material and offered attractive prizes as a token of appreciation for participation.

In addition to the educational booth, the committee also conducted a direct social campaign by canvassing the area around Bajra Sandhi Field in Renon, including the jogging track, the monument, and the open field. The committee approached the community politely, provided brief educational materials using posters, and engaged in discussions about the importance of reducing tobacco consumption and avoiding nicotine addiction. Participants were also given simple rewards in the form of stickers or small souvenirs.

Through these activities, it is hoped that the public will better understand the health dangers of tobacco and nicotine, raise awareness about adopting a healthy lifestyle, and support tobacco control efforts in the community.
