In-Depth Look at the "People-Pleaser" Issue: Psychology Student Association of FK Unud Successfully Hosts Psychetalk 2026 National Seminar
The Psychology Student Association (HM Psikologi) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), successfully organized the Psychetalk 2026 National Seminar. Addressing the crucial topic "People Pleaser: From People Pleasing to Setting Self-Boundaries," the event was held in a hybrid format, with the main venue located at the Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Widya Sabha Mandala Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
This theme was selected due to its high relevance to current psychological phenomena in society, where many individuals find themselves trapped in a tendency to prioritize the comfort of others over their own personal limits. The national seminar drew great enthusiasm from the general public, attracting a total of 248 participants.
The agenda began with opening remarks from the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Psychology Study Program at FK Unud, Made Diah Lestari, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D. In her address, she emphasized that the event served as a strategic platform for educating the public and introducing applied psychology. She expressed hope that Psychetalk 2026 would raise public awareness regarding the negative impacts of "people-pleasing" behavior while helping participants cultivate a positive personality and better mental health.
Moving to the core agenda, the event continued with presentations by two experts in the field of psychology:
1. Ida Bagus Jendra Wijaya, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist – Analyzed the "people-pleaser" phenomenon and presented strategies for setting personal boundaries to prevent individuals from becoming consumed by the pressure to please others.
2. Putu Tania Lita Devi, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist – Provided an in-depth discussion on the importance of self-care as a foundation for balanced mental health. Following the presentations by the two speakers, the event concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A session, during which participants—both in-person and online—actively consulted on the psychological dynamics they were facing.
