International Collaboration in Public Health Short Course by Bachelor of Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University


The Bachelor of Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University held a short course, with the topic "Public Health and Geriatric Dental Health Promotion", as part of academic cooperation with Inland University of Applied Sciences, Norway. The short course will be held from March 17, 2025 to April 17, 2025.


This short course was attended by four students of Inland University of Applied Sciences, Norway which aims to strengthen students' understanding of public health in developing countries. As facilitators in this course are lecturers from the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program, Bachelor of Dentistry Study Program and Bachelor of Nursing Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.


Students will learn various aspects of public health, including health promotion, nutrition, primary health, health systems, occupational safety, and environmental health. In addition, students will also gain insight into pediatric and elderly dental care in the Indonesian health system. As part of the program, students will visit the Puskesmas and elderly health post in West Denpasar and interact with the community in Penglipuran Village.


They will also learn the concept of Tri Hita Karana, a Balinese philosophy of life balance, and join a laughter yoga practice at Ambar Asram. Another field trip will be conducted in Margasengkala Village, Gianyar, to assess the local health situation and develop health promotion materials.


Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University Prof. dr. I Md. Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D., hopes that even though this course is held in the middle of a major holiday period, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi Day, this program can run smoothly and provide benefits for participants and the communities involved.
