Obituary "Prof.dr. Dewa Nyoman Wirawan, MPH"

In order to participate in praying and remembering Prof.dr. Dewa Nyoman Wirawan, MPH who has passed away, Faculty of Medicine held an online obituary and release of the deceased. The event was attended by the Dean of FK Unud Prof. Dr. dr. I Ketut Suyasa, Sp.B., Sp.OT(K) along with the Vice Deans, Chair of the Senate of Udayana University, Chair of the Udayana Medical Faculty Senate, Heads of Departments, Study Program Coordinators, Heads of Administration and Heads of Subsections of FK and staff of the Ministry of Health Society and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

The event began with remarks and release by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, followed by remarks by the Chancellor of Udayana University and at the same time handing over to the family for the ceremonial procession. The purpose of holding this event is to pay respect and appreciation for the services of the late Prof. Wirawan who has contributed a lot to the Faculty of Medicine and Udayana University.

A glimpse of Prof. Wirawan's work and the awards that have been received from IDI Bali (Lifetime Achievement Award for HIV Prevention, Treatment and Care), Ministry of Health for HIV etc. were presented by the Head of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (KMKP) Dr. dr. Anak Agung Sagung Sawitri, MPH

Prof. Wirawan died at the age of 71 years. He started his career as a teaching staff at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University in 1978, and until now his home base is at the Master's Program in Public Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

In 1992, Prof. Wirawan founded the Kerti Praja Foundation which is located at Jalan Raya Sesetan, South Denpasar. This foundation was established to address sexual and reproductive health issues in the general public and in communities most at risk, such as female sex workers, male sex workers, transgender people, high-risk men, and injecting drug users.

On this occasion also delivered tributes and impressions from some of his friends including: Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Professor Dewa Putu Wijana, Prof. Budi Utomo, Prof. Tuti Parwati, Prof. John Kaldor, Dr. Yanri Subronto, Dr. Partha Muliawan, Prof. Judith Levi, Dr. Made Setiawan, Dr. Ronald Hershow and Dr. Abby Ruddick.
