The Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University has once again produced 331 healthcare professionals, marking the occasion with a send-off ceremony for prospective graduates for the October 2026 period, held at the Widya Sabha Building, Bukit Campus, Jimbaran (October 9, 2026).

This significant event was attended by various leaders from partner healthcare institutions, including a representative for the President Director of Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Central General Hospital (RSUP)—specifically the Head of the Hospital’s Functional Education Unit—as well as the Director of Udayana University Hospital. Also in attendance were the Chair of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) Bali Chapter; representatives from the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) Bali Chapter, the Indonesian Physiotherapists Association (IFI) Bali Chapter, and the Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI) Bali Chapter; the Chair of the Ikayana Alumni Association (Faculty of Medicine chapter); the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine; program study coordinators; the coordinator for professional education implementation (KP3); and all the prospective graduates.

The ceremony began with a report from the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH., Ph.D., who detailed the number of graduates from each study program and expressed high praise for those who earned the title of "Best Graduate" at their respective levels of study, having achieved outstanding success throughout their academic tenure.

For the October 2026 period, the title of "Best Graduate" was awarded to:

1. Dr. dr. Agustinus I Wayan Harimawan, MPH., Sp.GK., Subsp.P.K., from the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences

2. Putu Yunita, S.KM, M.Kes., from the Master’s Program in Public Health

3. dr. I Gusti Agung Ayu Andra Yusari, Sp.Neuro., from the Neurology Specialist Study Program

4. Ns. Kadek Heny Pradnya Paramita, S.Kep., from the Nursing Professional Education Study Program

5. Ni Made Kalpika Widya Purnama, S.Psi., from the Bachelor of Psychology Study Program

The procession continued with the formal presentation of the graduates by their respective Study Program Coordinators to the Dean. This was followed by the recitation and signing of the Junior Physician’s Pledge and the Bachelor of Nursing Pledge, accompanied by the symbolic presentation of Junior Physician white coats and name tags.

A sacred moment followed, featuring the recitation of the Physician’s Oath, the Nurse’s Oath, the Physiotherapist’s Oath, and the Dentist’s Oath, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K)., alongside the heads of the respective professional organizations, and sanctified by religious representatives. Following this, the Dean officially inaugurated the medical specialists, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and dentists. The ceremony proceeded with the presentation of awards to the top-performing graduates, followed by remarks from the Head of the Education Functional Unit at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, dr. Yohanes Yanson Purnawan, MARS.

On this occasion, the Dean of FK Unud extended his congratulations to the graduates and their parents. He reminded them that the primary challenge ahead is no longer merely the number of graduates, but rather the equitable distribution of healthcare services, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. The new graduates were also urged not to become complacent within their comfort zones, but instead to continue embracing the principle of lifelong learning.

Professional ethics were highlighted as a key focus by Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K), emphasized the challenges of the digital era, noting that ethical breaches on social media are now extremely difficult to prevent and can instantly trigger widespread negative public perception. He also encouraged alumni to maintain communication with their academic program, providing input to help improve the curriculum in the future.

"The true test for doctors and healthcare professionals begins when they enter the community. Unlike in an academic setting, the public’s assessment is straightforward: is the care provided good or bad?" asserted Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K).

The event concluded with expressions of appreciation and gratitude toward Prof. Ngoerah Central General Hospital—the primary teaching hospital—as well as the network of affiliated hospitals and the Health Office, all of which facilitated a smooth educational process. The graduation send-off ceremony wrapped up with reflections shared by a representative of the prospective graduates.
