Strengthening the Block-System OBE Curriculum: Surakarta Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes) Physiotherapy Department Conducts Benchmarking Visit to Udayana University Faculty of Medicine
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Physiotherapy Professional Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), hosted a benchmarking visit from the Physiotherapy Department of Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta. This academic activity took place in the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room at the FK Unud building in Denpasar on Monday, September 21, 2026. The visit specifically focused on the theme: "Benchmarking the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum with a Student-Centered Learning (SCL) Approach within a Block System." The agenda aimed to facilitate the sharing of experiences and strategies for optimizing modern physiotherapy education systems.
The delegation from Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta was led by the Head of the Physiotherapy Department, Nur Basuki, M.Physio., Ph.D., Ftr. They were warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning—who is also the Acting Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information at FK Unud—Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, S.Ked., M.P.H., Ph.D., accompanied by the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program at FK Unud, Ftr. Ari Wibawa, S.ST.Ft., M.Fis.
In his remarks, Prof. Ady Wirawan expressed his deep appreciation for the visit. Given that Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta is recognized as one of the oldest and finest physiotherapy education institutions in Indonesia, the occasion served as a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas.
"We hope this interactive discussion will yield significant benefits for both parties while strengthening collaborative networks in physiotherapy education between our institutions," said Prof. Ady.
Meanwhile, Nur Basuki explained that as the oldest physiotherapy education institution, they are committed to remaining adaptive to the changing times. One objective was to gain insights into the success of the Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University (FK Unud) in implementing an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum using a block system.
The benchmarking visit featured presentations by two speakers from FK Unud:
1. Ari Wibawa, S.ST.Ft., M.Fis. – Presented an overview of the Physiotherapy Study Program at FK Unud.
2. Ni Luh Putu Gita Karunia Saraswati, S.Ft., Ftr., M.Fis. – Presented on the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum within the Physiotherapy Study Program at FK Unud.
The event was attended by leadership representatives from both institutions, including the Head of the Applied Bachelor and Professional Physiotherapy Study Program at Poltekkes Surakarta, Dr. Saifudin Zuhri, S.KM., SST., Ftr., M.Kes.; the Head of the Diploma III Physiotherapy Study Program at Poltekkes Surakarta, Sukadarwanto, S.KM., Ftr., M.Kes.; the Coordinator of the Physiotherapy Professional Study Program at Unud, Made Widnyana, S.Ft., Ftr., M.Fis.; and the Head of the Physiotherapy Department at FK Unud, I Made Niko Winaya, S.ST.Ft., S.KM., Ftr., M.Fis. The event concluded with an interactive discussion session, a group photo, and an exchange of mementos.
