The 6th Udayana Andrology Update (UAU)
At the end of July 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) has published the latest Semen Inspection Manual, 6th edition. Semen Analysis or known to the general public as the “Sperm Check” is a major cornerstone, an important examination in evaluating and assessing the fertility potential of men. Therefore, it is necessary to disseminate information to medical colleagues as well as discuss the latest treatment strategies, especially with micronutrient supplements to improve sperm quality and male fertility.
This time the Department of Andrology and Sexology, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD) in collaboration with the Association of Andrology Specialists (PERSANDI) Region V, Bali and Nusa Tenggara held the Udayana Andrology Update (UAU) Webinar for the 6th Udayana Andrology Update (UAU) for those who 6th. The topic raised regarding "New Insights in Micronutrient Supplementation to Improve Sperm Parameters" is carried out online using the Webex application. This scientific event will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 11.00-14.00 WITA.
Presenting two resource persons andrologists consultant fertility and reproductive endocrinology,
dr. Tri Bowo Hasmoro, M.Biomed, Sp.And(K) who discussed the topic "Insights on Male Infertility, Based on the 6th Edition of WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen (2021)" and continued by the staff of the Andrology and Sexology Faculty of Medicine UNUD, Dr. Yukhi Kurniawan, Sp.And(K) who presented about "Micronutrient Supplementation for the Improvement of Sperm Analysis Results"
Accompanied by the Head of PERSANDI Region V Bali-Nusra, dr. Nono Atmojo Tondohusodho, M.Kes, Sp.And(K), Chairman of the 6th UAU Committee as well as Head of the Department of Andrology and Sexology, FK UNUD, dr. I Gusti Ngurah Pramesemara, S.Ked, M.Biomed, Sp.And reported on the implementation of the 6th UAU webinar which was successfully attended by colleagues from General Practitioners, Specialists, Pharmacists, Biologists, Health Analysts including undergraduate and postgraduate students in Medicine. A total of 221 participants attended and participated in listening throughout the event and were active in the discussion session. This webinar is an effort to introduce the new WHO protocol on sperm testing to the medical community and is expected to be useful in clinical practice in dealing with everyday male infertility problems.
In between his busy schedule, the Dean of FK UNUD, Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes was pleased to attend and officially open the 6th UAU event. Specifically in his remarks, the Dean welcomed the efforts of the staff of the Department of Andrology and Sexology to continue to be passionate about educating colleagues and the public, especially regarding the issue of male infertility. It is known that the need for information is very large because infertility problems are increasingly being found in the community and also have a psychological effect on the lives of married couples. At the end of his speech, he hoped that UAU could continue to run continuously in the future.
