The Dentistry Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Commemorates World Oral Health Day

The Dentistry Student Association (HMKG) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2026 as part of the Community Service program within the 2026 Arunika Nawasena Cabinet's HMKG. This activity served as a contribution to the commemoration of World Oral Health Day, which is celebrated annually on March 20th.

This year, WOHD was held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at SD No. 1 Kedonganan, Kedonganan Village, Kuta, Badung. The theme was "Healthy Smiles, Happy Lives," reflecting the importance of developing oral health habits from an early age as the first step towards achieving healthy smiles and a better quality of life in the future.

The 2026 WOHD series of activities took place over a full day, encompassing six main agendas. The event began with SEGAR (Healthy Movement Exercise) in the schoolyard, followed by a Smile Care Session, an interactive education session on dental and oral health, including proper tooth-brushing practices. Next, participants participated in a dental and oral health checkup, a CERMIN (Stories in Interactive Educational Media) activity, and POJAN (Promise and Commitment Tree) to instill a commitment to maintaining dental and oral health. Free dental checkups were also available at the Wantilan (School Building) in Kedonganan Traditional Village, located next to Kedonganan Elementary School No. 1, and were open to the public, especially Kedonganan residents.

This year's WOHD event was chaired by I Gusti Ayu Shinta Oktaviani (a PSSKG student, Class of 2025), and involved students of Kedonganan Elementary School No. 1, supported by a committee of 65 people and 24 students from the Dentistry Professional Education program who participated in the dental and oral health checkups. The event was also attended by the Coordinator of the Dentistry Professional Study Program, drg. Sari Kusumadewi, SKG., M.Biomed. FCID., Coordinator of the Undergraduate Dentistry Study Program, drg. I Gusti Agung Dyah Ambarawati, M.Biomed., several lecturers from the Dentistry Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, the Head of Kedonganan Traditional Village, Mr. I Wayan Sutarja; the Principal of Kedonganan Elementary School No. 1, Mrs. Endang Meireni; and the Chairperson of the Dentistry Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University for the 2026 class of Komang Trinita Cahyani.

Through this activity, it is hoped that the dissemination of information related to dental and oral health will reach a wider community, thereby raising awareness of the importance of maintaining dental and oral health from an early age. Furthermore, participants are expected to not only gain understanding but also be able to implement habits of caring for their dental and oral health independently in their daily lives.
