The Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Provides Health Education, Early Detection, and Direct Medical Services to the Banjarangkan Community in Klungkung

The Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), held a community service event on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Banjarangkan Community Health Center I, Klungkung Regency.

This event promoted the spirit of providing health services to the community, with the theme "Prevent to Protect. Detect to Act. Treat to Heal," which focused on promotive, preventive, early detection, and medical interventions to improve the quality of public health.

The event began with remarks by the Head of the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Putu Andi Tusta Adiputra, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K), followed by remarks from the Head of the Banjarangkan Community Health Center I, Dr. I Wayan Agus Arisnawan, Sp.KKLP.

The main agenda of this community service activity was health education, which included:

1. Breast cancer early detection education, delivered by Dr. Gede Budhi Setiawan, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K), with a focus on education regarding the importance of early breast cancer detection, prevention efforts, and steps the public can take to increase awareness of early symptoms.

2. Foot Self-Care Education to Prevent Diabetic Ulcers, delivered by Dr. I Ketut Wisudana Yuana, M.Biomed, Sp.B, Subsp.BVE(K), with a topic emphasizing the importance of self-care for diabetic patients to prevent diabetic ulcers, including education on proper daily habits and warning signs that require immediate attention.

Following the presentation, the community service activity continued with health checks and medical procedures at the clinic, which included screenings, physical examinations, minor surgery, and varicose vein screening with ultrasound. These examinations were performed by Dr. Ida Bagus Budiarta, Sp.B, Subsp.BVE(K).

The entire series of community service activities ran smoothly, with the hope of providing tangible benefits to the community through health education, early detection, and direct medical services.
