The Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Holds SPMI and SPME Workshops to Strengthen Quality and Prepare for Accreditation

The Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (UP3M) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a Workshop on the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and External Quality Assurance System (SPME). This workshop took place in the Dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room, 4th Floor, Faculty of Medicine Building, Denpasar, on April 30, 2026.

This workshop was held as a strategic effort to improve the quality of the implementation of the PPEPP (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) cycle and as a preparation step for future study program accreditation.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, demonstrated its commitment to maintaining higher education quality standards, enhancing institutional competitiveness, and producing superior and globally competitive graduates. The SPMI and SPME workshops featured three speakers:

1. Dr. I Wayan Sumardika, S.Ked, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., presented on Curriculum Textbook Components, moderated by Dr. dr. Dewa Putu Wisnu Wardhana, S.Ked., MHPE., Sp.BS., Subsp.TB., FINSS, FICS.

2. Prof. Dr. dr. Anak Agung Wiradewi Lestari, S.Ked, Sp.PK(K), presented on Qualitative Accreditation with 8 Criteria, moderated by Dr. dr. Agung Wiwiek Indrayani, S.Ked, M.Kes.

3. Dr. dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Utara Hartawan, Sp.An-TI., MARS., SH, presented on Socialization of Internal Monitoring and Evaluation Instruments (SPMI), moderated by Prof. Dr. dr. Ni Made Linawati, S.Ked., M.Si.

The event began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (UP3M), Dr. dr. I Wayan Juli Sumadi, S.Ked, Sp.PA, Subsp.M.S(K), in his remarks, stated that this workshop was an important forum for aligning perceptions, strengthening understanding, and improving the readiness of all units to face the increasingly complex and quality-based demands of accreditation.

Following remarks from the Coordinator of the Development, Learning, and Quality Assurance Unit (UP3M), the event continued with remarks by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH., Ph.D., who stated that this workshop was an integral part of the study program's efforts to ensure the quality of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and produce competent graduates. The Education Quality Cycle begins with the establishment of standards (vision, mission, curriculum), and evaluation through Internal Quality Audits (AMI) for continuous control and improvement. Proper implementation of SPMI will facilitate the external accreditation process (SPME), both through LAMPTKes and international accreditation.

"We remind study program coordinators not to delay re-accreditation applications. Ideally, a task force should be formed one year before the accreditation expires, and applications should be submitted no later than six months in advance. The impact of accreditation expiration is that if the accreditation status expires, the system will automatically lock data, preventing students who should have graduated from receiving their diploma numbers and from graduating. Through this activity, it is hoped that all study programs will gain a better understanding and confidence in preparing for the re-accreditation process to maintain the overall quality of the institution," added Prof. Ady.

Following the presentation, the event continued with an interactive and in-depth discussion session. The workshop included lecturers from Bali International University, Study Program Coordinators, and TPPM (Community Empowerment and Development Team) within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
