The Neurosurgery Specialist Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Provides Health Education and Services at SMA Negeri 1 Susut and Abuan Susut Village, Bangli
The Neurosurgery Specialist Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a Community Service activity in Susut District, Bangli Regency, Bali, on February 20–21, 2026.
This activity demonstrated the commitment of the Neurosurgery Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, to improving the quality of health services and providing neurological health education to the community. The first day of the Community Service activity was held at SMA Negeri 1 Susut, Bangli, and the second day was held at the Balai Banjar (City Hall) of Abuan Village, Susut, Bangli.
The event was attended by the Head of Abuan Village, all village officials and staff, the Head of the Abuan Village Family Welfare Movement Team and all administrators, and Posyandu (Integrated Health Post) cadres from Abuan Village. Also present as the coordinator of the academic activities was the Coordinator of the Neurosurgery Specialist Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Tjokorda Gde Bagus Mahadewa, M.Kes., Sp.BS, Subsp. TB, FICS, FINSS, FINPS, AIFO-K, who provided full support for the implementation of this community service activity.

This community service activity included neck ultrasound examinations, peripheral nerve ultrasounds, health checks and consultations, health education for the community, and direct interaction with students, village residents, and local health workers. This activity is expected to raise public awareness about neurological health and expand access to specialist healthcare services in rural areas. Several key points emphasized during this activity were the importance of early detection of common but often under-detected conditions, including a history of high blood pressure, narrowing of blood vessels, peripheral nerve injuries, and scoliosis.
The event proceeded smoothly and was met with enthusiasm from the local community. The health service was attended by 212 residents of Abuan Village, Susut, Bangli. The entire event concluded with a documentation session and group photo session, demonstrating the dedication and collaboration between academic institutions, medical personnel, and the community.
