The Surgical Specialist Study Program and the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Hold a Vision and Mission Workshop, Symposium, and Scientific Workshop
The Surgical Specialist Study Program and the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a series of academic and scientific activities, including a Vision and Mission Discussion Workshop, a Graduation Ceremony for the Surgical Specialist and Surgical Oncology Subspecialist Education Program, a Symposium, Scientific Workshop, and the Udayana Surgical Gathering, which took place at the Prime Plaza Hotel, Sanur, Denpasar, on December 21, 2025.
The event began with remarks by the Coordinator of the Surgical Specialist Study Program, Udayana Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. I Made Mulyawan, Sp.B., Subsp.BD(K), regarding the future of surgery. The event was followed by remarks by the Head of the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Putu Anda Tusta Adiputra, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K), and the Director of Human Resources, Education, and Research at Prof. Dr. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah, Ken Wirianti SE, MRM., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.O.T. Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K), and Professor of Surgical Oncology, Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Sudarsa, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K).
The event continued with the Graduation Ceremony for the graduates, starting with the presentation of certificates and the pinning of sashes from the Coordinator of the Surgical Specialist Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, to the new surgical specialists: Dr. I Made Purnawan, Sp.B., Dr. Grace Mary Aritonang, Sp.B., Dr. Lambertus Josef F. Buga, Sp.B., Dr. Ovamelia Julio, Sp.B., Dr. Ida Ayu Dwi Oka Putri, Sp.B., and Dr. Gde Ary Putra Kamajaya, Sp.B. Then, the graduation ceremony for new Oncology Subspecialists, Dr. Bintoro Hartanto, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K), Dr. Desak Gede Agung Pramesti Devi, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K), Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Purnomo, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K), and Dr. Pande Made Krisna Ekassiana, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K), was held.
On the same occasion, a graduation ceremony for retired lecturers was also held as a token of appreciation for their dedication and devotion to the development of surgical education and services, including Dr. Ida Bagus Made Suryawisesa, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K), and Dr. I Ketut Wiargitha, Sp.B(K), Trauma.
The event continued with a Symposium presented by:
1. Dr. Ni Gst. Ayu Ag. Manik Yuniawaty Wetan, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk.(K) on "Non-operative Therapy for Solid Cancers"; Dr. dr. Made Agus Dwianthara Sueta, Sp.B, Subsp.BD (K) on "Intestinal Anastomosis: Stapled vs. Hand-sewn"
2. Dr. I Ketut Wisudana Yuana, M.Biomed., Sp.B, Subsp.BVE (K) on "Deep Vein Thrombosis"
3. Dr. Ida Bagus Budiarta, Sp.B., Subsp.BVE (K) on "NPWT" and Dr. dr. I Made Mulyawan, Sp.B., Subsp.BD (K) on "Hemorrhoids"
A curriculum workshop also took place, discussing the Vision and Mission, Research Roadmap, Curriculum Handbook, and TPPM Development.
The event concluded with a workshop on "NPWT" presented by Dr. Ida Bagus Budiarta, Sp.B., Subsp.BVE(K). The topic "Intestinal Anastomosis" was presented by Dr. dr. Made Agus Dwianthara Sueta, Sp.B, Subsp.BD(K), and the topic "Hemorrhoid Management with HAL-RAR" presented by Dr. dr. I Made Mulyawan, Sp.B., Subsp.BD(K).
This activity aims to strengthen the direction of study program and department development to improve the quality of education and clinical competency, as well as align the vision and mission with the current and future challenges of surgical care.
This series of activities is expected to provide sustainable benefits for the development of surgical science, medical education, and improving the quality of healthcare services.
