Through a National Seminar, TBM Janar Duta FK Unud Provides Education and Skills Related to Medical Emergencies While Exercising in Water
The Janar Duta Medical Assistance Team of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) again held a National Seminar on July 21, 2024 in a hybrid manner with the main location being in the Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar.
This year's National Seminar was attended by 1,348 participants, consisting of the general public, students, and health workers who attended online and offline. Carrying the theme "MARINE: Medical Updates On Travel Medicine with a Focus on Water Sport Emergencies", the national seminar is expected to be able to increase participants' knowledge and skills related to medical emergencies that occur while exercising in water, especially knowing that Indonesia is an archipelagic country with vast waters.
The seminar event was divided into two sessions, where the first session was moderated by dr. Komang Budi Sastra, S.Ked with resource persons Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D who presented material entitled "Overview of Emergencies in Travel Medicine" and the second material entitled "Marine Envenomation" presented by Dr. dr. Tri Maharini, M.Si. Sp.EM.
The second seminar session was moderated by dr. I Dewa Agung Gede Oka Dwi Wicaksana, S.Ked, with the third material entitled "Common Emergency Cases in Surface" presented by Dr. dr. Ida Ayu Eka Widiastuti, MFis., Sp.KL, Subsp. PH (K), and the fourth material entitled "Underwater Emergencies" presented by Dr. Anita Devi, M.Si. All participants in the seminar were taught about the many emergency incidents that can occur on the surface or in the sea, as well as basic knowledge related to travel medicine and envenomation of marine animals.
The 2024 National Seminar was attended and inaugurated by the beating of the gong by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D., together with the Supervisor of TBM Janar Dūta, dr. I Gusti Ngurah Pramesemara, M.Biomed., Sp.And., Head of the Advocacy and Student Welfare Department of BEM FK Unud, Head of Division 4 of TBM Janar Dūta and representatives from student organizations, student associations, and semi-autonomous bodies within the FK Unud environment.
In his remarks, Prof. Ady Wirawan as the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University expressed his appreciation for the chosen theme because it was considered suitable for Bali, a province with quite a lot of water sports tourism. He also expressed his appreciation for the sale and outreach of tickets that had been included in the Ministry of Health's SKP system. Finally, Prof. Ady hopes that this seminar can provide optimal benefits and increase insight and knowledge about water sports emergencies and prepare oneself in the field.
