Udayana University Faculty of Medicine’s 2026 PKKMB Embraces the Spirit of Synergy to Build a Faculty that is Excellent, Independent, Culturally Grounded, and Globally Competitive
Welcoming the Class of 2026 of the Udayana Health Student Family (Kamkesyana), the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine (FK Unud) organized the 2026 Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB). The event was attended by 893 participants, comprising 886 new students from the Class of 2026 and seven students from previous cohorts who had not yet completed the PKKMB requirement. Participants hailed from six undergraduate study programs: Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Dentistry, and Physiotherapy. Centered on the theme "Synergizing to Build a Udayana University Faculty of Medicine that is Excellent, Independent, Culturally Grounded, and Globally Competitive," the 2026 PKKMB was held over two days—August 4–5, 2026—at the Faculty of Medicine’s Sudirman Campus in Denpasar.
The opening ceremony of the 2026 FK Unud PKKMB began with a report from the Organizing Committee Chair, dr. I Kadek Swastika, S.Ked., M.Kes. He explained that the PKKMB serves as an initial step for new students to familiarize themselves with the campus environment, learning systems, student life, and the various facilities available at the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine. He also reported the total of 893 participants and expressed his hope that the event would provide a positive start for new students to adapt to the academic environment within an atmosphere that is safe, comfortable, inclusive, and free from any form of hazing or violence.
Subsequently, remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT(K). In his remarks, he welcomed all new students as part of the extended family of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. He emphasized that the PKKMB (Student Orientation) is not merely a ceremonial event but a platform to introduce the academic culture, education system, faculty governance, and student life. Furthermore, the Dean highlighted that the entire orientation program is conducted in a friendly, inclusive atmosphere—free from any form of violence or hazing—thereby fostering character, integrity, and a spirit of togetherness among all new students.
Following the opening remarks, the event proceeded with the introduction of the leadership team of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. This began with the Dean and Vice Deans, followed by the Coordinators of Undergraduate and Professional Study Programs, the Administration Coordinator, and the Sub-coordinators.
The opening of the 2026 PKKMB for the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, was marked by the ceremonial planting of the *kayon* (a traditional Balinese puppet symbol representing the tree of life) by the Dean, accompanied by the Vice Deans and the Coordinators of Undergraduate and Professional Study Programs. This procession symbolized the commencement of the new students' academic journey in developing knowledge, character, integrity, and noble values as future professional healthcare workers.
After the opening ceremony, the event continued with presentations delivered by:
1. Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp. Onk. Ort. R(K), Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, who presented on the topic "Introduction to the Faculty of Medicine Campus," moderated by Govinda Vintala, S.Ft., Ftr., M.Fis.
2. Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D., serving as the Vice Dean for Academic and Planning Affairs (and Acting Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information), presented the topic "Introduction to Academic and Student Life," moderated by Ns. Luh Mira Puspita, S.Kep., M.Kep.
3. Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes., serving as the Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance, presented the topic "Utilizing Facilities to Support Educational Success at the Faculty of Medicine," moderated by dr. I Gusti Ayu Harry Sundariyati, S.Ked., MHPE.
4. dr. Anak Ayu Sri Wahyuni, Sp.KJ., from Prof. dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital, presented the topic "Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education," moderated by drg. Dik Megaputri Handayani, Sp.Perio.
5. Ni Luh Indah Desira Swandi, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist, serving as the Head of the Counseling and Legal Aid Team at the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine, presented the topic "Procedures for Accessing Counseling Services at the Faculty of Medicine," moderated by David Hizkia Tobing, S.Psi., M.A.
Overall, the first day's activities featured five speakers comprising faculty leadership and professionals with relevant expertise. The material presented provided new students with an understanding of the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine environment, academic and student life, the use of educational facilities, and the prevention and...handling of violence within the university environment, as well as procedures for accessing counseling services as part of the student support system at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
In the following session, new students were directed to rooms corresponding to their respective study programs to participate in the Study Program-level PKKMB. During this session, students were introduced to the study program profile, organizational structure, curriculum, learning system, and academic assessment methods, and received various supporting information presented by the Study Program Coordinator and their team.
The second day of the 2026 PKKMB at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, began with a group cheer practice session involving all prospective *Kamkesyana* (Faculty of Medicine students) to foster spirit, solidarity, and a sense of togetherness among the new students. Subsequently, participants were directed to designated rooms for an information session regarding student organizations and Semi-Autonomous Bodies (BSO) within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. This session aimed to inform new students about the functions, roles, work programs, and contributions of each organization and BSO, enabling them to discover the various platforms available for developing interests, talents, leadership skills, and community service within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
Following the information sessions, activities continued with the Study Program-level PKKMB, held in respective rooms, to introduce the student associations and their activities.
To conclude the day's events, all prospective *Kamkesyana* finalized their group cheers, demonstrating the spirit, solidarity, and togetherness cultivated throughout the PKKMB. The event then proceeded to a group photo session involving new students, the organizing committee, and the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, marking the conclusion of the entire program.
With the completion of these activities, the 2026 Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University—held on August 4–5, 2026—officially came to an end. Under the theme "Synergizing to Build a Udayana University Faculty of Medicine that is Excellent, Independent, Culturally Grounded, and Globally Competitive," it is hoped that all prospective members of the Class of 2026 (Kamkesyana) will be able to embody the values of togetherness, integrity, professionalism, and a spirit of service throughout their education, and ultimately become healthcare professionals who are excellent, independent, culturally grounded, and globally competitive.
