Udayana University Faculty of Medicine Provides Free Influenza Vaccination in Kubu Bangli Village
In the framework of the 63rd BKFK Anniversary celebration, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University through the Undergraduate Medical Study Program carried out a community service program in a mission to improve public health which took place in Kubu Village, Bangli Regency (16/3/2025).
The activity involving medical personnel and students of the Faculty of Medicine aims to increase public awareness, especially in the elderly, about the importance of preventing influenza diseases that pose a high risk to them. In addition, vaccinations are given as a preventive measure to reduce morbidity due to influenza virus infection.
The event began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program, Dr. I Wayan Sumardika, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who in his remarks expressed his gratitude to the Head of Village and the Chairperson of the Elderly of Kubu Bangli Village who had received the community service team from the Undergraduate Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. This community service was carried out as a series of BKFK activities with the topic of the importance of influenza vaccination which is one of the efforts to prevent the occurrence of influenza disease which is a high risk in the elderly. This community service is also accompanied by free vaccinations for interested elderly people.
"Hopefully in the future with this program, the elderly in Kubu Bangli Village will get better protection against influenza, so that their quality of life will improve, and the Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University is committed to continuing to contribute to improving public health through various educational programs and health services," said Dr. Sumardika.
The activity continued by providing education to the community to increase public awareness, especially in the elderly, about the importance of preventing influenza diseases that are high risk for the elderly. The elderly were also given education on how to maintain immunity, the importance of vaccination, and a healthy lifestyle to prevent infectious diseases. After the discussion session, influenza vaccination was given to the elderly for free.
