Udayana University Faculty of Medicine’s Nursing Study Program Conducts Ergonomics Awareness Session and Free Health Checks at SMPN 1 Kediri

The Bachelor of Nursing Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, through its "EDEMA" Community Service Program, organized an event themed "EDEMA: Ergonomics Education for Healthy Learning Activities" at SMPN 1 Kediri (Kediri State Junior High School 1) in Kediri District, Tabanan Regency, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

This event was held as a form of community service aimed at raising awareness about ergonomics during work and study activities. Additionally, the program provided support to teachers, staff, and students through promotive and preventive approaches. The EDEMA Community Service Program is an initiative led by lecturers from the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine’s Nursing Study Program, representing a tangible contribution by both faculty and students toward increasing public awareness of ergonomics.

The program began with opening remarks from the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Nursing Study Program—who also serves as the Head of the EDEMA Program—followed by remarks from the Principal of SMPN 1 Kediri and an ergonomics awareness session for the students. The educational material, presented by Dr. Ns. Ni Ketut Guru Prapti, S.Kep., MNS., covered topics such as proper bag-carrying techniques, ideal sitting postures for studying and using mobile phones, and stretching exercises to be performed during breaks in the learning process.

In addition to ergonomics education, teachers and staff received free health check-up services, including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. For this event, the Udayana University Nursing Study Program collaborated with students from the Sports Management Study Program at the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, State University of Surabaya, to educate participants on the importance of workplace ergonomics.

Through this series of activities, it is hoped that the community and the younger generation will gain a better understanding of the importance of workplace ergonomics, be able to adopt good body posture, and play an active role in sharing this knowledge within their own communities.
