Udayana University Wins Top 3 in the 2025 Bali Province Integrated Health Post Competition on Restricting Plastic Waste Generation and Source-Based Waste Management at School and University Levels

Waste is an environmental problem that continues to increase with population growth and human activity. If not managed properly, waste can cause pollution, health problems, and even ecosystem damage. Therefore, concrete efforts are needed to change the public's perspective on waste, from being considered useless waste to something that can be processed, utilized, and even have economic value.

Referring to Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 13 of 2024, which regulates Integrated Service Posts (Posyandu) as community institutions in villages and sub-districts that function as government partners in planning, implementing, and monitoring development, including basic public services. Based on this, Bali Province held the Posyandu Competition on Restricting Single-Use Plastic Waste and Source-Based Waste Management, with Udayana University, represented by the Faculty of Medicine, participating in the assessment for universities.

The 2025 Posyandu Competition for Restricting Plastic Waste Generation and Source-Based Waste Management at School and University Levels for Udayana University was chaired by Ni Made Utami Dwipayanti, ST., M.BEnv., PhD., with its main performance indicators being the effective and sustainable implementation of restrictions on single-use plastics and source-based waste management in school and university environments.

Based on the assessment by the Bali Province Posyandu Competition Jury, Udayana University won the Top 3 in the University Category. The award certificates and trophies were presented at the launch of the Kulkul PKK and Posyandu Movement on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the Ksirarnawa Building of the Bali Provincial Cultural Park Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD).

The award certificates, trophies, and cash prizes totaling Rp. 15,000,000 (fifteen million rupiah) was handed over directly by the Head of the Bali Provincial Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) Advisory Team, Mrs. Ni Putu Putri Suastini Koster, and received by Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes., Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of the Faculty of Medicine, representing Udayana University.

It is hoped that schools and universities, as educational institutions, will play a vital role in shaping the character of students, including awareness of the importance of environmental protection. Dirty school and campus environments and the abundance of litter can disrupt the teaching and learning process, create an unhealthy environment, and even become a source of disease.
