The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Unud Prof. Dr. dr. IK Suyasa, SpB, SpOT(K) and the Director of Unud Hospital Prof. Dr. dr. DPG Purwa Samatra, SpS(K) received a visit from the Commander of Korem 163 Wirasatya, Brigadier General Husein Sagaf, SH and the Head of Health and Safety IX/Udayana Colonel CKM dr. I Made Mardika, Sp.PD at Unud Hospital, Wednesday (22/7/2020).

This visit discussed the implementation of convalescent plasma therapy (TPK) which had been carried out at Udayana University Hospital.

Convalescent plasma therapy is the administration of plasma from recovered Covid-19 patients to be donated to Covid-19 patients who are still being treated. Covid-19 patients who have recovered have their plasma taken 2 weeks after recovering / tested negative. This 2-week period is considered the best phase, because the antibody levels are considered the highest.

On this occasion the Danrem 163 Wirasatya and the Dean of the Unud Medical Faculty accompanied by the Director of the Unud Hospital had a chance to talk with one of the convalescent plasma donors who will donate their plasma today. This donor was treated at the Unud Hospital for 14 days and has recovered from Covid-19. The patient was moved / felt called to donate plasma.

Convalescent plasma therapy at Unud Hospital has been carried out 5 times using plasma obtained from the RSPAD. After this discussion, a webinar will be held inviting participants from policy makers at the provincial level and all districts in Bali with resource persons from Unud Hospital and RSPAD.

In addition to the webinar, to develop this convalescent plasma therapy, socialization will be carried out to the community to increase the number of donors and to convey the benefits of convalescent plasma therapy.
