Buleleng Regency Social Devotion Event with Sedasa Sunar Foundation

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, a Social Service event from the Surgical Study Program of the Medical Faculty of Udayana University was held at SMPN 1 Busungbiu in the Kekeran Village of Busungbiu, Buleleng. This social service was organized by the Sedasa Sunar Foundation in collaboration with the Buleleng Regency Government. This social service program provides various kinds of specialist services, such as surgical services, internal medicine, child health sciences, family planning services, obstetrics and reproductive health, and other services. On this occasion, the surgical service was represented by the Resident General Surgeon, FK UNUD/Sanglah Hospital along with our supervising doctor, dr. Made Agus Dwiantara Sueta, Sp.B-KBD, and medical personnel from Udayana Hospital Denpasar.

This social service event was attended by 15 residents of Surgery Faculty of Udayana University, Sanglah Hospital. The social service starts at 09.00 WITA. Some of the cases handled on the spot include enlarged glands under the skin, removal of lumps, removal of moles, wound care and others. Major cases such as enlargement of the thyroid gland, hernia, and hemorrhoids are advised to be treated at the hospital. In this social service activity, it is seen how senior General Surgery PPDS students teach juniors how to make incisions in the skin properly and correctly, how a doctor performs comprehensive chronic wound care and so on. All these processes are strictly supervised and structured. For students, this event is an opportunity to learn more and gain experience and skills required by a surgeon. Not only for us, the people of Busungbiu Village also feel very helpful with this kind of social service activity.

We would like to thank all those who helped in this social service event. Hopefully with this assistance, the community can feel the presence of health workers directly, so as to reduce the distance for the community to seek health assistance.
