Neurology

The Department of Neurology was originally known as the SMF of Neurological Sciences established in 1962 along with the opening of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. In the beginning, Neurology and Psychiatry were still merged into one Neuro-Psychiatry section of Wangaya General Hospital. Since the beginning, the Neurology-Psychiatry Section was under the leadership of Prof.Dr.I Gusti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah (deceased) who concurrently became Dean of FK-UNUD in 1964-1967. He then became Rector of UNUD 1968-1977, in his busy schedule he was still able to guide Neuro-Psychiatry assistants who were an inseparable unit. In April 1980 the Neurology-Psychiatry section was developed into three namely the Neurology section, the Psychiatry section and the Behavioral Sciences section with the Neurology section led by Prof. dr. I Gusti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah. The current Head of the Department of Neurology is Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Oka Adnyana, Sp.S (K). Until now the Department of Neurology FK UNUD / RSUP Prof. Ngoerah occupies the department secretariat in the Main Building of RSUP Prof. Ngoerah and has several facilities, namely the Department of Neurology FK UNUD / RSUP Prof. Ngoerah. Ngoerah and has several facilities, such as 1 polyclinic unit on the 1st floor of the Prof. Ngoerah Hospital polyclinic building, EEG, ENMG and inpatient rooms with a medical recording system with a centralized / computerized system. The Neurology Department currently has 22 staff including 10 PDDikti staff, and 12 Kemenkes staff. Of the total staff of the Neurology Department, 6 people served at Udayana University Hospital, and 16 people served at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah Hospital, with each subspecialty, namely: Neurovascular, Neurodegenerative, Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology, Pain, Neurocritical and Intensive, Neurooncology, Neurorestoration and Neuroengineering, Neuropediatrics.
