5th Bali Neurosurgery Clinical Update (BROCA) 2026: Continuing Professional Development in Neurosurgery, Udayana University in Conjunction with PERSPEBSI Bali–Nusra
The Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Neurosurgeons Association (PERSPEBSI) Bali–Nusra, held the 5th Bali Neurosurgery Clinical Update (BROCA) 2026 as part of the Neurosurgery Continuing Professional Development Program (PKB). The event, which took place on June 12–14, 2026, was held offline at Bali International Hospital for a symposium on June 12–13, 2026, and at the Bali International Training & Development Center for a workshop on June 14, 2026.
This annual scientific event aims to improve the competence of healthcare professionals through scientific knowledge updates, technological developments, and the application of the latest clinical practices in neurosurgery. BROCA 2026 also served as a platform for knowledge exchange and strengthening academic and professional collaboration between neurosurgery practitioners from various institutions in Indonesia.
The opening ceremony began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Tjokorda Gde Bagus Mahadewa, M.Kes., Sp.BS.Subsp.TB, FICS., FINSS, FINPS, AIFO-K, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT(K), Subsp.Onk.Ort.(R)., who also officially opened the event.
The series of events consisted of a two-day scientific symposium presenting various current topics in the field of neurosurgery, followed by a workshop on the third day, divided into two classes: one for general practitioners and one for residents. All sessions were designed to enhance participants' theoretical understanding and practical skills in line with developments in modern neurosurgical science and technology.
BROCA 2026 featured speakers from various neurosurgery education and service centers in Indonesia, with participants hailing from various regions across the country. A total of 143 participants attended the entire series of activities, including neurosurgeons, Neurosurgery Retirement Program students, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident in the high level of participation in scientific discussions, Q&A sessions, and skills training sessions held throughout the event.
Through the 5th Bali Neurosurgery Clinical Update (BROCA) 2026, the Neurosurgery Specialist Education Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, together with PERSPEBSI Bali-Nusra, affirmed their commitment to supporting scientific development, improving professional competency, and strengthening national collaborative networks in the field of neurosurgery. It is hoped that this event will contribute to improving the quality of neurosurgery healthcare in Indonesia through high-quality continuing medical education based on the latest scientific developments.
