Bali Hematology and Oncology Update (BLOOD) 2025: Transforming Hematology-Oncology Practice Through Precision Medicine
The Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Hematology and Internal Medicine Oncology (PERHOMPEDIN) Bali Branch, successfully held the Bali Hematology and Oncology Update (BLOOD) 2025 with the theme "Transforming Hematology-Oncology Practice Through Precision Medicine" on October 4 and 5, 2025, at the Harris Hotel & Conventions, Denpasar.
The event began with remarks from the Chair of the Committee, Dr. dr. Ni Made Renny Anggreni Rena, Sp.PD-KHOM, FINASIM, and continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT. Subs. Onk. Ort. R(K), who also officially opened the event.
In his remarks, Dr. Reny Anggreni stated that science and technology in the field of hematology-oncology continue to advance rapidly. Currently, many new treatment methods have been implemented, such as genetic therapy, immunotherapy, and personalized treatment for each patient. Through the BLOOD 2025 event, it is hoped that doctors, researchers, and other stakeholders can broaden their knowledge and strengthen collaboration to improve services for hematology and oncology patients.
Meanwhile, Prof. Eka, in his remarks, stated that the increasing number of hematology and oncology cases in the community presents both a challenge and an obligation for us as clinicians to continually improve our skills and update ourselves to meet these dynamic scientific developments. Therefore, he greatly appreciated the BLOOD 2025 series of events.
He hopes that this symposium will help participants understand that cancer treatment no longer relies solely on systemic therapies (such as chemotherapy, which works throughout the body), but has entered a new era of precision medicine, where treatments are tailored specifically to each patient's genetic and biological characteristics.
This symposium presents two scientific speakers with various current topics, including Beyond Systemic Therapy: The Era of Precision Medicine in Cancers presented by Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Bakta, Sp.PD, K-HOM, FINASIM, The Role of AI Revolution in Hematology and Oncology Management presented by Prof. Dr. dr. Ketut Suega, Sp.PD, K-HOM.
