Cervical and Breast Cancer Education and Early Detection in Banyu Poh Village, Buleleng
Cervical and Breast Cancer Education and Early Detection in Banyu Poh Village, Buleleng
The Anatomic Pathology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a Community Service activity by conducting Cervical and Breast Cancer Education and Early Detection, as well as Tirtayatra (a traditional Javanese holy water ritual) on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Wantilan Jaba Pura Melanting Temple, Banyu Poh Village, Buleleng Regency.
Cervical and breast cancer are the two most common cancers in women in Indonesia. The incidence of both cancers can be reduced through early detection through Pap smears to prevent cervical cancer and Breast Self-Examination (BSE) for early detection.
Although public access to healthcare services in Bali is quite good, the incidence of these two cancers remains high. Therefore, outreach activities regarding early detection of these two cancers are essential. In this activity, the Anatomic Pathology Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University/Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital conducted outreach activities targeting women traders and vendors in the wantilan and jaba areas of Melanting Temple. The activity was conducted by residents and teaching staff of the Anatomic Pathology Specialist Study Program.
This activity was held in conjunction with Tirtayatra activities at Melanting Temple, Segara Rupek Temple, and Rambut Siwi Temple with the aim of fostering a sense of camaraderie among students, teaching staff, and educational staff within the Anatomic Pathology Specialist Study Program.
