Continuing Professional Development in Ophthalmology 2025
The Ophthalmology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a "Continuing Professional Development in Ophthalmology" event on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in the Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik Room, Faculty of Medicine Building, Udayana University, Denpasar.
The event was attended by invited guests, consultants, teaching staff, residents of the Ophthalmology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, as well as participants from various universities and hospitals. The event was opened by the MC with opening greetings and acknowledgment of the guests and the consultants who served as resource persons for each session. In his introduction, the MC welcomed the guests, including the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.O.T., Subsp.Onk. Ort.R(K); the Vice Dean for Academic and Planning, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, MPH., Ph.D., Director of Human Resources at Prof. Ngoerah Ken Wirianti General Hospital, SE.MRM, and PERDAMI Bali Branch, represented by Dr. Pande Adityo Ananta Ardika, Sp.M, expressed their gratitude for their willingness to attend the opening of the Continuing Professional Development in Ophthalmology 2025 event despite their busy schedules.
The event then continued with remarks from Dr. Putu Dian Megasafitri, Sp.M, as the committee chair, remarks from Dr. dr. I Wayan Gede Jayanegara, Sp.M(K), Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, and remarks and opening remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.O.T., marked by the striking of a gong to mark the official opening of the Continuing Professional Development in Ophthalmology 2025 event.
After the welcoming session, the event continued with a photo session with all invitees, consultants, and participants. The first scientific session was moderated by Dr. dr. Anak Agung Mas Putrawati Triningrat, Sp.M(K) and Co-Moderator Dr. I Nyoman Surya Ari Wahyudi, Sp.M. In this session, the topics discussed were Topic 1. Beyond the Eye Chart: Understanding the Role of Ocular Symptoms in HIV Detection by Dr. I Gusti Ayu Made Juliari, Sp.M (K), M. Kes, Topic 2. Stay protected while you travel: essential vaccines for travelers by Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, S. Ked., MPH, Sp. KLPP, PhD, Topic 3. Sun, sand, snow and sight: UV protection and eye safety for travelers by Dr. dr. Ariesanti Tri Handayani, Sp.M(K). Each session ended with a question and answer discussion from participants and speakers. The second scientific session was moderated by Moderator Dr. dr. I Wayan Eka Sutyawan, Sp.M(K) and Co Moderator dr. Ida Ayu Prama Yanthi, Sp.M with Topic 4. Travel related corneal disorders: what the GP’s need to know by dr. Putu Dian Megasafitri, Sp.M, Topic 5. Glaucoma on the Go: Tips for Managing Medication and IOP During Travel by dr. I Gusti Ayu Ratna Suryaningrum, M.Biomed., Sp.M(K), and Topic 6. Retinal Red Flags Abroad: When Vision Changes Strike During Travel by Dr. dr. Ari Andayani, Sp.M(K). After the second scientific discussion session ended, it was continued with Scientific Session III with Moderator Dr. dr. Putu Yuliawati, Sp.M(K) and Co Moderator Dr. dr. Ni Made Ari Suryathi, Sp.M(K) who opened this last session. The topic presented was Topic 7. Little Eyes, Big journey: GP’s Guide for Pediatric Eye Care During Travel by Dr. Dr. Ni Made Ayu Surasmiati, M. Biomed., Sp.M(K) and Topic 8. Crash, Bang, Blind: The Urgency of Eye Trauma by Dr. Ni Made Laksmi Utari, Sp.M(K). Each discussion session was lively, with participant participation and insightful answers from the speakers.
After the scientific session concluded, a door prize distribution followed, followed by a closing ceremony by the host, who expressed gratitude for the knowledge and experience shared by the speakers. He also expressed the hope that all participants would utilize the knowledge gained as a foundation for their future education and professional service.
