Supporting the implementation of the 1st Jamu (Loloh) International Conference & Expo (JICE) held in Nusa Dua, Bali, the Doctoral Program of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University through the doctoral program students of Class of 2024 played an active role as the organizing committee for this activity. This international conference was opened with a ceremonial event attended by various figures from the academic world, government, and the national and international herbal medicine industry. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes., and the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Jawi, M.Kes., also attended this event. (16/12/2024)


The event began with a report from the Chairperson of the 1st JICE Committee who emphasized the importance of developing the herbal medicine industry to support public health and increasing the culture-based economy. Several important remarks were also delivered by representatives of government institutions, including the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Giring Ganesha, the Chancellor of Mulawarman University as a representative of higher education, the Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia who delivered his remarks via video to support the development of the current herbal medicine industry. The opening session also featured a dance performed by students of the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, class of 2024, named the Tantra Usada Dance.


The series of conference activities also included oral and poster presentation sessions discussing various materials related to the development of herbal medicine. With the start of this conference, it is hoped that closer international collaboration can be created in the development of herbal medicine as a global tradition-based health product. This conference is also an important platform for sharing knowledge and the latest research on the herbal medicine industry and its use in the world of health.


The event lasted for two days and was closed with a series of announcements of the winners of the Tiktok, Youtube and Duta Jamu competitions.
