Educating on Running Culture Trends: Sports Physiology Master's Program at FK Unud Hosts SEMAFORA 2026

The Master's Program in Sports Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), successfully organized the National Seminar on Sports Physiology (SEMAFORA) 2026. Centered on the theme "From Overuse to Optimal Use: Framework of Load Management in Running," the event took place at the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar (August 21, 2026).

The event began with a report from the Organizing Committee Chair, Ftr. I Putu Kharismawan Aritama, S.Kes., followed by remarks from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning at FK Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D. In his address, Prof. Ady noted that this annual seminar tackles a topic highly relevant to the "running culture" trend currently sweeping through society.

He views running as a positive phenomenon that is highly beneficial for supporting a healthy lifestyle and preventing chronic diseases—such as through blood pressure control. However, Prof. Ady also highlighted the importance of education regarding load management in running. According to him, safe running practices must take into account factors ranging from intensity, distance, and injury prevention to the maintenance of the cardiovascular system.

"It is hoped that these discussion sessions with experts will generate new insights and serve as an educational platform with a broad impact, benefiting both the general public and running communities," said Prof. Ady.

Moderated by dr. Surya Adhistanaya, Sp.OT, the national seminar featured three expert speakers in the field:

1. Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Astawa, Sp.OT(K), M.Kes. – Providing an in-depth analysis of "Overuse Injuries in Running."

2. dr. Made Dwi Puja Setiawan, Sp.K.F.R., M.Ked.Klin., AIFO-K – Dissecting strategies for injury prevention.

3. Ni Made Ferriyani, S.Kes., Ftr. – Presenting material on "Recovery & Optimal Performance."

The event was attended by a diverse group of participants, ranging from doctors, nurses, teachers, physiotherapists, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and lecturers to university students. Also in attendance were the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Sports Physiology, representatives from KONI Bali Province and APKI, and the Chairperson of IKAFONA.
