Enhancing Global Competence: Plastic Surgery Residency Program at FK Unud Hosts Visiting Lecture on Breast Reconstruction
The Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Residency Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), successfully organized an international visiting lecture. The event took place at the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
This scientific event featured two international plastic surgery experts as keynote speakers who shared their clinical experiences:
1. Hyun Ho Han, M.D., Ph.D. – Presented a lecture titled "Immediate and Late Breast Reconstruction: The ASAN Experience."
2. Wananya Phochai, M.D. – Presented a topic on "A Journey Through Breast Reconstruction at Thammasat University Hospital."
Both sessions, which focused on breast reconstruction, were interactively moderated by dr. I Gusti Ayu Putri Purwanthi, Sp.B.P.R.E.
The event opened with remarks from the Coordinator of the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Residency Program at FK Unud, Dr. dr. Agus Roy Rusly Hariantana Hamid, Sp.B.P.R.E., Subsp.T(K). This was followed by addresses from the Head of the Department of Surgery, Prof. Dr. dr. Putu Anda Tusta Adiputra, S.Ked., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K), and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning at FK Unud, Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, S.Ked., MPH., Ph.D., who also officially opened the event.
In his remarks, Prof. Ady Wirawan emphasized the importance of this global collaboration for the institution's academic development. He highlighted that this residency program is a vital part of the FK Unud ecosystem—centered at the Sudirman and Jimbaran campuses—alongside the Prof. dr. ... Central General Hospital (RSUP). ...I.G.N.G. Ngoerah as the primary educational facility.
"This Visiting Lecture program serves as a vital platform for enhancing competence and professionalism in the field of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. We hope that all residents in the Specialist Training Program (PPDS) will make the most of this opportunity to engage in direct discussions and deepen their knowledge," said Prof. Ady.
Also in attendance were faculty members and all residents of the Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Specialist Training Program (PPDS) at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud).
