Enhancing Knowledge on Oral Cavity Neoplasms: Udayana University Faculty of Medicine Dentistry Program Hosts Guest Lecture

The Undergraduate Dentistry Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), successfully held a guest lecture focused on strengthening specialized knowledge on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The event, which centered on an in-depth study of "Oral Cavity Neoplasms and Their Radiographic Appearances," took place in the Dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the FK Unud building in Denpasar. This guest lecture was organized as a strategic move by the faculty to keep pace with the latest developments in medical science.

This academic event featured two highly competent sub-specialist experts in the field:

1. drg. Yossy Yoanita Ariestiana, M.KG., Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.Ortognat.D.(K) from Hasanuddin University, Makassar. She presented essential material on "Oral Cavity Neoplasms (Benign and Malignant)," moderated by drg. Nyoman Ayu Anggayanti, DDS., MS., OMFS.

2. Dr. drg. Haris Nasutianto, M.Kes., Sp.R.K.G.(K) from Mahasaraswati University, Denpasar. He provided a comprehensive analysis of "Radiographic Appearances of Oral Cavity Neoplasms (Benign and Malignant)," moderated by drg. Putri Marina Sukmadewi, Sp.R.K.G.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from the Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance at FK Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes. In his address, Prof. Muliarta emphasized that involving competent external sub-specialist lecturers is far more crucial for the study program's advancement than merely meeting administrative ratios for permanent faculty members. This approach has proven far more efficient for institutional governance while simultaneously ensuring the standards of academic quality received by students.

Furthermore, the speaker urged students to set aside sectoral egos and prioritize cross-functional integration. Diverse perspectives—gained through interprofessional collaboration and peer cooperation—are considered essential for sharpening critical thinking, tempering individual egos, and leading to far more accurate and efficient clinical decisions in real-world practice.

This guest lecture was attended in person by the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Dentistry Study Program, drg. I Gusti Agung Dyah Ambarawati, M.Biomed., along with faculty members and hundreds of students from the Udayana University Undergraduate Dentistry Study Program, who engaged in active, interactive discussions throughout the event.
