Field Assessment of LAM-PTKes Accreditation for the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program
The Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) conducted a field assessment for the accreditation of the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud). This specialist study program accreditation aims to ensure educational quality meets national and global standards, improve the quality of competent graduates, and provide formal recognition of the appropriateness of educational provision. Furthermore, this process is expected to foster a culture of continuous quality improvement.
The field assessment was officially opened in the Dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar, and was held over three days, May 21–23, 2026. The assessment was conducted by three assessors:
1. Prof. Dr. dr. Aida Lydia Sutranto, SpPD, KGH, PhD, FINASIM
2. Dr. dr. Sudirman Katu, SpPD, KPTI, FINASIM
3. Dr. dr. Irza Wahid, SpPD, KHOM, FINASIM
The opening ceremony began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT(K), Subsp.Onk.Ort.(R), and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who also officially opened the event.
In his remarks, Prof. Eka expressed his appreciation to the assessment team, especially Dr. Sudirman, who had overseen the assessment process four times at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. The Faculty is committed to being transparent in providing data to ensure smooth document confirmation in the field.
"Currently, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, manages 38 study programs, of which 28 have achieved Excellent status and 6 have achieved Very Good status. Furthermore, the Faculty is proposing three new study programs through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology system: a Master of Nursing, a Neurosurgery Subspecialty, and a Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This accelerated accreditation is supported by a robust quality assurance system through the PPEPP cycle and an annual, independent Internal Quality Audit (AMI) involving auditors from across faculties. The faculty is optimistic that the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program will once again achieve Excellent accreditation. This is based on the program's historical track record, being the first to achieve Excellent accreditation within the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. Through this assessment, the Faculty hopes to continue to improve the quality of medical education sustainably," said Prof. Eka.
Meanwhile, Prof. Sujaya conveyed that Udayana University welcomed the arrival of the assessor team and was committed to maintaining and improving the quality of education through the implementation of a normative cycle of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI), which includes important stages, namely standard development, implementation, supervision, evaluation, and improvement of standards that have been reported to have been completed well in the Faculty of Medicine, where this assessment is not just an event to evaluate how great the SPMI has been running in the Study Program and Study Program Management Unit (UPPS) but this assessment aims to evaluate and find new spaces for improving the quality of the tridharma of higher education and services in the community for the progress of Udayana University in the future. The Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University, especially the specialist study program, has its own uniqueness because it is bound by two major standards, namely the normative national standards of higher education (SNDikti), and the Indonesian medical education standards, this is based on the high demand of the community for the birth of specialist doctors who are competent, competitive, and able to provide extraordinary impacts on health services. The Internal Medicine Specialist Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, is recognized as one of the leading study programs, having produced outstanding leaders for the university, including two Rectors from the Internal Medicine Specialist Program. He acknowledged the strong academic foundation of the Internal Medicine Specialist Program.
"Once again, we ask for as much input as possible from the assessors to improve the quality of education at the Internal Medicine Specialist Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. We also ask that the Internal Medicine Specialist Program be granted maximum access to the assessors so they can work effectively," added Prof. Sujaya.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the President Director of Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, Denpasar; the Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), the Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LP3M), representatives from the Udayana University Library Unit (UPT), the Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine Senate, the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, the Study Program Coordinators, Department Heads, Unit Coordinators within the Faculty, and the Internal Medicine Specialist Program Accreditation Task Force.
During the field assessment, the assessment team carried out various activities, including:
1. Interviews with faculty leaders, study program managers, and the task force team.
2. EvEvaluation of lecturers in the study program
3. Interviews with educational staff regarding academic and non-academic services
4. Interviews with graduate users
5. Discussions with students
6. Review of the main teaching hospital
7. Review of satellite platforms and superior facilities and infrastructure
Through this activity, it is hoped that the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, can continue to strengthen its academic quality and institutional governance to achieve superior accreditation and make a real contribution to society.
