Guest Lecture: Population Dynamics and Reproductive Health Interlinkages

The Master of Public Health Program, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Public Health Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a guest lecture on the theme "Population Dynamics and Reproductive Health Interlinkages." The lecture took place in the Bagiada Room, second floor of the Cakra Vidya Usada (CVU) Building, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Jalan P.B. Sudirman, Denpasar. The main objective of this guest lecture was to provide in-depth insights and practical perspectives on the relationship between population dynamics and reproductive health to the Udayana University academic community. This event featured expert speakers in their fields: Dr. Hassan Mohtashami, Head of the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) Representative Office in Indonesia, moderated by Made Ayu Hitapretiwi Suryadhi, S.Si, M.Hsc, Ph.D.

The event began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Master of Public Health Program, Dinar Saurmauli Lubis, S.KM., MPH., Ph.D., who expressed his gratitude to the speakers for sharing their knowledge with the Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Public Health students at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. He expressed his hope that this guest lecture would be a valuable learning experience for all students and faculty members in attendance.

Following the remarks from the Coordinator of the Master of Public Health Program, the event continued with remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K)., who stated that the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) is currently undergoing a strategic transformation phase to strengthen its position as a world-class health education institution. Through strengthening international collaboration and developing an adaptive curriculum, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) aims to achieve its vision of becoming a World Class University (WCU) by 2042.

As one of the medical faculties with the most complex educational ecosystem, the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) currently manages 38 study programs. The current focus of development is directed at the Master of Public Health Program (PS MKM) and the Doctoral Program (S3) in Biomedical Sciences through streamlining academic bureaucracy and strengthening the research-based curriculum, supported by a teaching staff predominantly of international graduates, to accelerate knowledge transfer and expand international research networks.

"Achieving World Class University status is not seen as a mere administrative goal, but rather the result of real synergy with strategic partners such as UNFPA and other global institutions, allowing for mutually beneficial collaborations, such as research collaboration and student exchanges. This can have a real impact for both parties by adopting research models from developed countries to promote academic independence, especially in crucial areas such as vaccine development and public health," said Prof. Eka.

This guest lecture was attended by students from the Master of Public Health Program, students from the Bachelor of Public Health Program, and lecturers from each study program. Following the presentations by the speakers, the event continued with a discussion session.
