INTEGRATED NATIONAL EXAM (UNAS) SURGERY

Udayana University was chosen to host the integrated UNAS for the November 2019 period for Region III. This activity is a routine exam activity every February, May, August and November by the Indonesian Collegium of Surgical Sciences (KIBI) which aims as a scientific and practical evaluation for participants in the surgical specialist education program (PPDS) throughout Indonesia.

The Integrated UNAS for the November period was held for 2 days, November 16 – November 17, 2019. UNAS includes a professional exam, basic surgical written exam, cognitive exam, and an Objective Structured Clinical Assessment ( OSCA) exam. dr. Djoko Handoyo, MSI, SpB(K)Onk, FCSI were elected as the Coordinator I of UNAS this November. dr. Ahmad Yani, Sp.B, Sp.BA as Coordinator II and dr. I Ketut Wiargitha, SpB(K)Trauma as Chief Executive of UNAS. There were 22 examining doctors who attended UNAS, of which 12 were professional exam examiners and 10 were OSCA examiners. UNAS participants were followed by all universities that are members of KIBI region III. These universities include Udayana University, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, Brawijaya University and Airlangga University. The number of participants for the professional exam this time was 23 people, the Basic Surgical Writing Exam was 29 people, the Cognitive Exam was 43 people and the OSCA Exam was 28 people.

The first day of Integrated UNAS on November 16, 2019 includes a professional exam and a basic surgical written exam. The professional exam starts at 08.00 in the SMF Room for Surgery at Sanglah Hospital. The professional exam begins with the participant entering the isolation room and being given directions, then the participant enters the exam room. The exam this time was divided into 3 waves with 7-8 participants per wave. During this period, all participants of the Professional Examination passed and the event continued with the delivery of dolls, flowers, and certificates as a sign of graduation. Meanwhile, the basic surgical written exam will be held starting at 9:00 am in the office room of Sanglah Hospital. The exam is carried out for 100 minutes and participants are supervised by a supervising doctor.

The second day of Integrated UNAS on November 17, 2019 includes the OSCA exam and cognitive exam. The OSCA exam starts at 08.00, at the Surgical Clinic at Sanglah Hospital. Before the exam begins, all participants are briefed on the flow of the exam. The exam is divided into 2 waves with 13-15 participants in each wave. Cognitive exams were held at the same time as the OSCA exams in the office space of Sanglah Hospital. After the exam is over, participants are invited to have lunch and then are allowed to go home.

Djoko Handoyo, MSI, SpB.K.Onk. FCSI. The entire series of Integrated UNAS activities ended with a group photo of all examiners, and the integrated UNAS organizing committee for the November period. The ongoing UNAS activities well and smoothly, further fosters a sense of readiness and confidence to carry out national and even international based activities in the future.
