National Dental Health Month of Udayana University 2024, "Dare to Show Your Teeth, Support a Stronger Indonesian Smile"

In connection with the celebration of the National Dental Health Month 2024, the Undergraduate Program in Dentistry and Dentistry Profession (PSSKGPDG) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) held the National Dental Health Month of Udayana University 2024 (BKGN Unud) which began with an opening ceremony at the Dental and Oral Hospital of Udayana University (RSGM Unud), Jimbaran. Held from 18 to 20 December 2024, this year's BKGN Unud 2024 carries the theme "Dare to Show Your Teeth, Support a Stronger Indonesian Smile". As a form of harmony with the theme, as many as 693 people have registered to receive dental and oral health care services, and during these three days BKGN Unud will provide services in the form of tooth extraction, tooth scaling, tooth filling, topical fluoride application and services for children with special needs. In addition to health services, this year's BKGN Unud is also enlivened by community service that provides education to elementary schools (SD) about the importance of maintaining dental and oral health from an early age.

The opening ceremony of BKGN Unud 2024 was attended by representatives of PT. Unilever Indonesia, Deputy Dean for Finance and Resources of the Faculty of Dentistry Mahasaraswati, I Gusti Agung Ayu Hartini, M.Biomed, President Director of RSGM Mahasaraswati, drg. Raziv Ganesha, Sp.PM., Rector of Unud Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., representative of the Chairperson of the Badung Dentist Association, representative of the Head of the Badung Regency Health Office., Director General and Finance of Unud Hospital dr. Made Ayu Haryati, MARS, President Director of RSGM Unud drg. Putu Ratna Kusumadewi G., Sp.KG., Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of FK Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Sudarmaja, M.Kes, and Coordinator of Undergraduate Dentistry and Dentistry Profession Study Program Dr. drg. Putu Lestari Sudirman, M.Biomed.

Prof. Sudarmaja in his speech expressed his hope that activities such as BKGN would not only be carried out during the month of devotion, but could be carried out continuously in the form of preventive, promotive, rehabilitation and curative activities so that the community could feel the benefits of the existence of medical education institutions.

"I hope that activities like this can continue to be carried out, besides being part of community service, preventive efforts will certainly be able to save medical costs and we as a medical education institution can be useful for the community," he said.

Officially opened with the beating of the gong by the Chancellor, on this occasion Prof. Sudarsana said that Unud is ready to support the development of RSGM for the progress of Unud and the smooth learning process of the dentistry study program.

"Seeing the current developments, the University is ready to support the completion and revitalization of the RSGM building and also the Unud Hospital, because in addition to being an income generator, RSGM and Unud Hospital will also help smooth the learning process in the medical and dentistry study programs," he said.

After the opening ceremony, the invitees visited the field to see the dental health service activities taking place at the Unud Jimbaran RSGM.
