Psychiatry Specialist Study Program and Master of Public Health Science Study Program FK Unud Hold Seminar on Revitalizing the Role of Traditional Medicine for Mental Health


In order to improve competence and knowledge in the field of mental health and traditional medicine for medical students, general practitioners, specialist doctors and other health professionals, the Psychiatry Specialist Study Program together with the Master of Public Health Science Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) held a Mental Health, Mental Disorder and Traditional Medicine Seminar with the theme "Revitalizing Traditional Herbal Medicine for Mental Health Care in the Modern Era" which was held on February 21, 2025 in a hybrid manner with the main location point in Prof. dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Room, FK Unud Building, Denpasar.


Followed by participants from undergraduate, master, specialist students and doctors who attended both online and offline, this seminar presented 5 speakers, namely:

1. Prof. Dr. Raymond Rubianto Tjandrawinata, MS, MBA, MRSPH, with the topic "Integrating Network Pharmacology and Multi-Omics".

2. Dr. Kiki Sulistyo Winarto, Sp.OG with the topic "Neurotransmitter and Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine in Mental Health and Mental Disorders".

3. Prof. Dr. Mangestuti Agil, MS, Apt. with the topic "Integrative Strategies for Brain Health"

4. Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Drs. I Made Agus Gelgel W., Apt., M.Si., with the topic "Balinese Usadha Remedies for Mental Health Recovery".

5. Prof. Dr. Cokorda Bagus Jaya L., Sp.KJ (K), MARS, with the topic "Efficacy and Scientific Potential of Balinese Usadha Herbs in Managing Mental Disorders".


The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information of FK Unud, Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D and was also attended by the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, dr. Ni Ketut Putri Ariani, Sp.KJ (K) and the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Specialist Study Program, dr. Luh Nyoman Alit Aryani, Sp.KJ (K).


In his speech, Prof. Ady expressed his hope that this seminar could improve the competence and knowledge of the participants in the field of utilization of traditional medicine, especially in Bali in dealing with mental health problems and mental disorders.


This event was greeted enthusiastically by the participants as evidenced by questions, discussions and sharing experiences related to the use of traditional medicine for people with Mental Health and Mental Disorders.
