Ready to Serve: FK Unud Officially Sends Off 369 Prospective Graduates for the August 2026 Period
The Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University (FK Unud) has once again produced 369 new healthcare professionals through a solemn send-off ceremony for prospective graduates of the August 2026 period, held at the Widya Sabha Building, Bukit Campus, Jimbaran (August 19, 2026).
This significant event was attended by leaders from partner health institutions, including the Head of the Education Functional Unit at Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah General Hospital (RSUP) Denpasar, the Deputy Director for Academic and Human Resources (HR) at Udayana University Hospital, and the Deputy Director for Academic and HR at the Udayana University Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM). Also present were the Chairperson of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) Bali, the Chairperson of the Ikayana Alumni Association (Faculty of Medicine Chapter), FK Unud Vice Deans, Study Program Coordinators, Coordinators for Professional Education Implementation (KP3), and all prospective graduates.
The event commenced with a send-off report delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning at FK Unud, Prof. Dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, MPH, Ph.D. He outlined the number of graduates from each study program and expressed high appreciation to the "Best Graduate" awardees from each level of education who had achieved outstanding success during their studies.
For the August 2026 period, the Best Graduate awards were achieved by:
1. Dr. dr. Pande Ayu Naya Kasih Permatananda, M.Biomed. (Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences)
2. Ns. Ni Made Sri Utami, S.ST., M.Kes. (Master’s Program in Health Sciences)
3. dr. Sandra Surya Rini, Sp.PD, Subsp.R. (Sub-specialist Program in Internal Medicine)
4. Dr. dr. Gede Febby Pratama Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Biomed., Sp.BS., from the Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program
5. dr. Vidya Aditi Sudana, S.Ked., from the Medical Professional Education Study Program
6. Ni Luh Linda Lidyawati, S.KM., from the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program
The procession continued with the formal handover of graduates from the Study Program Coordinators to the Dean. The agenda proceeded with the recitation and signing of the Junior Physician Pledge, Bachelor of Nursing Pledge, and Junior Dentist Pledge, followed by the symbolic presentation of Junior Physician and Junior Dentist coats and name tags.
A solemn moment was marked by the recitation of the Physician's Oath led by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud), Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K)., accompanied by the Head of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) Bali Chapter, and ratified by religious officials. Afterward, the Dean officially inaugurated the sub-specialist physicians, specialist physicians, and new physicians. This was followed by the presentation of awards to the top graduates and remarks from the Head of the Education Functional Unit at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, dr. Yohanes Yanson Purnawan, MARS.
On this occasion, the Dean of FK Unud extended his congratulations to the graduates and their parents. He reminded them that the primary challenge ahead is no longer merely the number of graduates, but the equitable distribution of healthcare services, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. The new graduates were also urged not to become complacent in their comfort zones and to continue upholding the principle of lifelong learning.
Professional ethics was a key aspect emphasized by Prof. Eka, especially in the digital era. He warned that ethical violations on social media are difficult to contain and can instantly trigger widespread negative public perception. He also expressed hope that alumni would maintain communication with their study programs to provide input for future curriculum improvements. "The true test for doctors and healthcare professionals comes when they step directly into the community. Unlike in the classroom, the public’s assessment is simple: the service provided is either good or bad," emphasized Prof. Eka.
The event concluded with expressions of appreciation and gratitude to Prof. Ngoerah Central General Hospital—the primary teaching hospital—as well as the network hospitals and the Health Office for facilitating a smooth educational process. The send-off ceremony wrapped up with remarks and reflections from a representative of the prospective graduates.
