Round Table Discussion Virus Corona

The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University held a Round Table Discussion regarding the current situation of controlling the Pneumonia Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, Friday (07/02/2020) at the Prof. Meeting Room. dr. I Goesti Ngoerah, Fourth Floor, FK Unud. This activity is a form of equalizing perceptions about knowledge about Corona Virus and is a form of the contribution of the Faculty of Medicine to the community.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. I Ketut Suyasa, Sp.B, Sp.OT (K) said this activity was a socialization to form an initial concept in preventing and responding to the virus that was endemic from China. “This is a form of socialization to health friends in handling cases in the community. And we prioritize prevention so that there is no spread and transmission. One of them is to implement a clean and healthy lifestyle,” he said.

The same thing was also expressed by the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, dr. Ketut Suarjaya, MPPM. He said Indonesia was still not affected by the Corona Virus. However, the community is expected to remain introspective by adopting a clean and healthy lifestyle, one of which is washing hands to prevent disease transmission. Apart from themselves, the Bali provincial government is also ready to respond to the Corona Virus by providing health facilities including Tabanan Hospital and Sanjiwani Hospital. I Gusti Agung Ayu Kusuma Arini as a representative of Sanglah Hospital said that the public can contact the manager of duty to respond if they find symptoms related to the Corona Virus. In Sanglah Hospital itself has also prepared a special room and team to handle the case.

To maximize the provision of understanding, Prof.Dr.dr. Ketut Tuti Parwati Merati, SpPD-KPTI from the Division of Tropical Diseases and Infections, Department of Internal Medicine, FK Unud, explained the clinical characteristics of the Corona virus, ranging from the work system, symptoms, to handling. Regarding the Corona Virus and the Bali area as a destination In tourism, FK Unud develops a superior field of science, namely Travel Medicine which is engaged in handling cases for domestic and foreign tourists. This is a local genius that is instilled in students so that they have adequate knowledge regarding travel medicine.

The results of the discussion in this activity will be published in accordance with the recommendations of the speakers and participants of this activity. In the future, FK Unud will also open consultations to both the government and the public regarding the Corona Virus and others in accordance with the applicable SOP.
