Seminar and Launch of Digital Module Strengthens Health Literacy in Primary Care


The Master of Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, together with the Australian National University, held a seminar “Embracing the Digital Era” and launched a digital health literacy module on June 20, 2025. Held in the Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Room, this activity marked the culmination of a series of innovative module development activities for primary health care providers. The development of this module was supported by the Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) and funded by the Commonwealth of Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).


The launch of this module was carried out by Mrs. Jo Stevens, who is the Australian Consul General in Bali together with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, represented by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Information, FK Unud, Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, MPH., Ph.D., as well as representatives of the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, Head of the Denpasar City Office and Head of the Health Center in Denpasar City.


This seminar was attended by 93 invitees in a hybrid manner by representatives of the Deans of the Faculty of Medicine throughout Bali, the Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, the Head of the Bali Provincial Bapelkesmas, the Head of the Bali Provincial Communication and Information Office, the Head of the Denpasar City Health Office, the Head of the Denpasar City Communication and Information Office, the Head of the Health Centers throughout Bali and students.


The first speaker in this seminar was dr. I Nyoman Sutarsa, MPH, Ph.D, SFHEA from the module preparation team, who explained the module preparation process, key findings on digital health readiness in primary services, module content, training implementation, monitoring and evaluation and lessons learned from this activity.


The second speaker was Drg. Desak Gede Eka Variasih, MAP from the Bali Provincial Health Office who explained the strategy for strengthening digital literacy in primary services. His presentation began with the national digital health transformation to primary services, the situation of health digitalization in Bali including its challenges, strategies for strengthening health digitalization, one of which is through digital health literacy.


This seminar has received a very positive response from invitees and participants. It is hoped that this activity will be a strategic step in improving digital health literacy, not only in Denpasar City, but also in other areas.
