The purpose of participating in this elective travel medicine module is to gain hands-on experience with travel medicine. One of the activities includes field trips to several travel medicine facilities in Bali to gain a deeper and first-hand understanding of travel medicine in Bali. Over the course of two weeks, students will receive materials and visit the Penta Medica Clinic, Udayana University Hospital, the Ngurah Rai Airport Port Health Office, yoga classes, wellness trips, adventure tourism in Tegalalang, and water sports in Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua.

During this visit, the UMSU Medical Faculty students were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes., who welcomed them to Bali, specifically to the Faculty of Medicine, where they will spend the next two weeks exploring travel medicine in Bali. Travel medicine has significant potential for future development, particularly in rapidly developing tourism areas, which are found in almost all regions of Indonesia. Indonesia boasts natural and cultural resources that attract both domestic and international tourists.

Faculties of Medicine, particularly in Indonesia, are still influenced by social and cultural factors, including those in Bali and North Sumatra. Therefore, the concept of developing medical tourism with wellness tourism, as well as the local culture and social life in Bali and North Sumatra, can be compared. "This activity is an extraordinary opportunity for students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMSU) to broaden their knowledge in the field of travel medicine," said Prof. Januartha.

Following the opening ceremony, the event continued with presentations by the speakers. The event was also attended by Dr. Made Agus Hendrayana, S.Ked., M.Ked., Coordinator of the Travel Medicine Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University; Dr. I Wayan Sumardika, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Coordinator of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program; and Ni Kadek Fitria Parahita, Chair of the General Medicine Student Association (HMKU), Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
